PIRATE DLC! With boats!

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 11:27 am

Would you be open to a pirate themed dlc?

They can easily expand the water area to the right and add islands and other landmasses. Second they can add boats and raiders and enemies who are like apocalyptic pirates.

Driveable boats should be very easy to implement as well. Boats could be upgraded with armor plating, weapons, and customized. They could have a crew and be customizable and built on (use the settlement system to implement this in some way).

Would anyone be interested in this? If not maybe I will attempt to make a dlc.

Did bethesda ever make boats before though? Just wondering if it would be more work than its worth maybe? Would like there to be more to do in that ocean, like mermaids and a mermaid city maybe? Or alien pyramids but something fun out there! Bethesda always comes up with these out there things that somehow always fit the game so looking forward to what they come up with!

I don't think they have done much with boats. I have always been told boats are 10X easier than land vehicles like cars because they avoid many issues with the terrain and dynamics as well as movement.

They could do floating barges and fortresses (water world style) on the water. They could do ships you can board and attack, and small islands with buildings and more. I would also hope for some new creatures as well as underwater Exploration.

In my opinion if they don't flush out the water opportunity with the setting and map they are missing out on a huge opportunity!

Will they even make dlc's like this? Seeing alot of "*insert* dlc" suggestions. Feels like we will have new quest/world like the fallout 3 dlc. But perhaps they are changing that.

I like the big dlc's with new worlds but it would be nice to see them implementing new mechanics in the commonwealth aswel as new big quests/worlds

Seeing as Boston has a history of smuggling, piracy and privateer work, prewar-nonghoul John Hancock was a smuggler I heartily approve of this idea!

I am imagining Railroad post endgame stuff where you run blockades smuggling synths and the like.

Anyone know if there is a reference ingame to Boston Brahmins or if Beth aren't that gauche and merely have brahmins in Boston as a not so clever visual pun?

I'm not talking about Blackbeard or something... I'm talking about raiders who are pirates and take supplies and people hostage. Piracy has always existed through out history in areas where there is not a security force (piracy exists today around Africa).

It makes sense raiders and thieves would turn to piracy in the post apocalyptic world to get ahead. With all the water boats are a logical choice.

Pirates are just water bandits no? And raiders fit the description of bandits. I don't like the idea of a pirate themed DLC but your point is rather moot

The water is poison. Do they all wear rad suits? Where do they go, a pirate's cove? Do they bury treasure? Or are they more like today's sad pirates in the real world that traffick drugs and people for the slave and six trades? No thank you. I don't see a place for this in Fallout. I also don't think modern "piracy" has any desirable or admirable characteristics.

It would be weird NOT to do some kind of nautical DLC imo, considering where this game takes place. Not necessarily pirates but it's the freakin Bay State

Modern pirates obviously.. Not treasure burying ones with parrots obviously... How does stealig, drugs, six trade, and violence not fit into fallout? All those things are in fallout games... Of course modern piracy has no good characteristics that is why you kill them. There could be an option to join either a faction that wants to wipe them out or the pirates of your character is evil.

They aren't in the water they are on boats
Rads are everywhere in fallout on land...

Uhh.. people on boats go in the water. Have you ever been on a boat?

And as I said, modern piracy is sad and pathetic. Why would you think it's cool to kidnap little boys and sell them as prosttutes?

Why would there be any pirates? There's no trade routes on the water for them to intercept and the land is much safer and profitable for raiding.

The ocean is radioactive and there's things like mirelurks on the coast alone so who knows what monstrous versions of shark and whales there are and what they would do to a boat.

I bet you are really fun at parties...

It doesn't have to be that serious. I never said I condone modern piracy. Good lord what is wrong with people these days.

On that note, I would like something involving a giant mutated whale to find and kill. I know we have all the dead porpoises in this game but I'd like something to physically be there. The underwater element could have been much better considering we have a perk to breathe underwater.

If they're going to do something in the bay I'd like a massive oil rig/offshore base to explore.

...but no to the pirate idea. I don't think it'd work.

Those are the porpoises I spoke of. There's a lot of them and they're all dead.

Sound good, I don't see it in here, but maybe a New Orleans/Florida placed fallout game, will be great.

Boston is just as water themed as NOLA. I'd prefer to see more creepy swamps/bayou setting if they did one based here.
