well i was just wanting to do the whole swinging around on a rope thing and then shooting someone in the face with a pistol in mid air.

As you'll probably be firing from above into the massed crew standing ready to repulse a boarding party, the odds for hitting a head are high. Hitting one specific head of your choosing... that's raw luck. Achieving any sort of accuracy when swinging from a rope (tied to a moving boat) and shooting at a target on another ship that's moving too is ludicrous.
