Pitch-black

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:51 pm

I play on a 360 so I do not have the luxury of mods. But I am hoping that not only are the nights darker (I don't want to be able to see just as far at night as I do during the daytime), but I'm hoping that caves and dungeons are pitch black from time to time. There should be caves so dark that you have to use a torch or use magic to light up your surroundings. Has there been any word on this?

You can tweak the in-game setting to almost get thing to how you like it. That is what I do...

But yeah, I agree. I do not want magical ambient light in a dark cave that has no windows to the surface, glowing fungi, or torches.

But I would have to adjust it every time I go into a cave. I do not want the outside world to be darker than it should be.

I hope not. I'd rather be able to see. Stars, the moons, and aurorae light the night sky, so there's any easy explanation for it not being pitch black.

I'm sure you will be able to find a match between TV settings and your in game settings to meet your needs.

You do not have to adjust it every time if you find a happy medium. Just tweak the settings to acceptable darkness levels while outside, and then you will have slightly darker dungeons and caves (though not as dark as is prefered). Every little bit helps.

Not really. As these are consoles*, and most folks flatscreens are overly bright, dropping the Gamma so it is almost dark at night/in caves still gives a fairly bright daytime. You may not be able to get it as dark as you like depending on your TV/Room set up, but you can get close. At least on past games.

*Most people don't play a console on a PC Monitor. Which are even worse for being overly bright our of the box.

What would be good for consoles is a separate day/night adjustment slider, that would allow for darker nights without effecting day, I prefer darker nights myself but I have the luxury of a PC.
