I update this just to re-confirm that the freezing problem has nothing to do with the console, the way it's set up, the disc, heating or anything like that. In case it wasn't clear enough yet.

My girlfriend started a Skyrim game after I finished mine, she's been playing for some time now, and her game works perfectly fine. No crashes at all, she can travel Skyrim from one end to the other without trouble. We're obviously using the same console, the same disc, etc.

So there you go. These are game issues. It's entirely Bethesda's problem. And I wouldn't be surprised if, once she is more advanced in the game, the crashes come back. I mean, I'm sure they will be back, this happens to pretty much everyone. What I'm curious about is when exactly.

i dont think anyone was disputing place specific crashes were partially a console issue, random freezes can go either way, place specific will most likely be caused by info for the particular region you are loading that is saved to your save file that causes an error with the game.

I don't even know anymore. The last specific crash I got was in such a bizarre location that I don't know what to think. It was the first time I was going through that area in ages. Later on, when I was playing my last quests, I got another one in an equally strange location, that I didn't visit in many, many days. I mean, enough time that any bodies, weapons and stuff should've been cleaned up long ago. But yes, we already talked about this, it has to be something like that.

I see that people keep flocking to this forum with freezing problems. I sincerely hope they do something about it. Fixing the crashes is WAY more important than adding kill cameras and releasing DLC. The game has to playable in the long run first.

I'm 100% with you on that one. In fact, if the next announcement is DLC, I'll probably skip buying it and wait for the inevitable gold member discount in a few months. By then they hopefully will have got the message ;)

Hi, all! It sounds like I've been having similar problems that some of you are having. I guess it all started as I approached 500hrs on one character, and the game would crash whenever I rode a horse for a few minutes. Sometime later I had to return to the lost knife hideout to complete some little quest, and when I attempted to enter it the game would lock-up while loading. It did this everytime. I thought this was strange because this was a location that I had previously cleared with no problems. As I continued to play more locations became impossible to access because of this issue, like the blue palace in solitude and the dark brotherhood sanctuary near dawnstar. I also experience frequent crashes in the area around riften; not trying to enter a location, just walking around! I can't seem to travel 2mins in the wilderness around riften before the game freezes.

I've shelved the game for now, hoping they will do something about these issues. It's bizarre, really; playing a game for over 400 hours with no real problems then having the world slowly being closed off in this manner. Well, sorry for the depressing tale, but this is the first forum i found that shared some of the same issues I've been having. Oh well, I guess I was fortunate to get that many hours out of one character, judging from some of these posts!
