Plane of Oblivion

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:46 am

There have been threads like this however, I would like to get a recent update on peoples opinions.
Even though we've seen the Realms of Sheogorath(Oblivion Expansion: Shivering Isles), Mehrunes Dagon(Oblivion), and Hircines(Battlespire). I kept them in anyway for a complete list.

Personaly I would like to see Quagmire. I LOVE horror elements in games so it may or may not be awsome.

Edit: Thanks to Martut for some corrections

I want to check up Clavicus again - he was pretty cool to be around in Redguard and with his role in The Infernal City I could imagine him being relevant to mortals' affairs again by TES V.

Attribution’s Share is the Plane of Boethiah, The Hunting Grounds is the changing realm of Hircine, Mephala's Realm is called "Mephala's Web", Sanguine has 10,000 realms (I highly doubt they would ever make 10,000 realms), Peryite has "Peryite's Pits", Namira has "The Scuttling Void".

It's UESP, so I dunno how accurate it is, but those seem right.

Quagmire would be... terrifying. Especially because there would be no end, her realm is... downright evil. I don't know who would worship the Prince of nightmares... I have them way too often.

I'd rather not have any
We saw a couple in Oblivion and it was an interesting element.
So for TESV I'd rather just see something new.

This. I think that the Daedra should remain kind of mysterious and their realms should mostly be left to the imagination.

Anyway, I find all of the Daedra to be too... obsessed over one thing to want to visit one of their realms. Daedra all require things of Mortals, the Nine don't even ask for love. That's why I like Mundus better. Anyway, they could make some really good horror elements with what they've done with Fallout 3. In fact its expansion packs are like nightmares.

I respect your opinions and all, but if it was inevitable which one would you pick?

Another thing, they break away from that "cookie cutter fantasy" we were exposed to in oblivion.

There are many things that could be done to break away from the "cookie cutter fantasy".

True but if there was going to be one featured, Which one would you want to see?

I'd have to say Mephala's Web, but apparently it's inaccessible to mortals. :sadvaultboy:

I agree with NMM here, leave the daedra alone! The only reason why we got to see them a lot in Oblivion, was because a lot of conditions made it possible for what happened happen. In any other time (save merithic), it would be extremely difficult.

Let the next game be more about the politics of the land.

I'd be fine with none. Personally I hated how they were represented in Oblivion, all of them. After that I don't have much expectation for one to be done well, unless it were a major focus, and I see no reason for a plane of oblivion to be a major focus again. Making entry casual would just cheapen them, along with the inevitable lack of individual attention to each if they were the case.

If I had to choose, I'd take Hircine's, which would have the potential for some interesting gameplay experiences.

They have some idea in the lore section that each daedra is the embodiment of their sphere, such that everything living represents Meridia, everything that is ancient darkness is Namira, everything that is darkness represents Nocturnal, and all conspiracies to cast curses of pestilence in the evening to destroy hunter's libedo in their sleep are Azura, Boethia, Clavicus Vile, Hermaeus Mora, Hircine, Jyggalag, Malacath, Mehrunes Dagon, Mephala, Meridia, Namira, Nocturnal, Molag Bal, Sanguine, Sheogorath, and Vaermina.

That's why I don't buy that idea. I prefer what Clavicus Vile tells you when you're in his realm in Redguard. He says that the things they do are based on their interests, because they are very powerful beings that are bored. Like this quote of his.
All our time is free time. It's eternity, man. Don't you think that gets a bit tedious? Mostly it's the same thing, over and over, so boring.
Boredom to them is our entertainment, because they're willing to do outlandish things, like screw with elf gods and send packs of werewolves to attack people. If you ask me, it's a much better angle than someone being the embodiment of dawn.

Azura's realm sounds kind of trippy with all the lighting and stuff. If not her I'd go for one of the realms of Sanguine so I could go on a night of debauchery! :celebration: (not sure if that's spelled right)

I hope no planes of oblivion appear in TES V. But if I had to choose one, I'd probably choose the ashpit. The uesp entry sounds pretty sweet.

If I had to choose, it would be Boethiah's realm, mainly because we haven't had too much interaction with him/her/it. But, like a lot of people, I would like to give daedric planes a rest. We got spoiled in TESV.

I would rather not see any oblivion realms int he next Scrolls game. I think that the last game was able to put oblivion realms in it because that was basically the theme of the game, it was about the deadra and all of that other stuff. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a realm if it didn't go into too much detail, like someone said before me I would like the deadra to be left to the imagination and be more mysterious in TES: V. It wouldn't really make sense to just throw you into an oblivion realm unless they did it right (they can't just do it because it will be cool, it has to be done right with a good story ect ect...) but even still meh...

But if I had to choose ONE i would choose the Quagmire Realm because I think they would do the spooky/horror element really well :P

The Hunting Grounds. The way that Infernal City described it made me want to go there.

Or Apocrypha. Get to read books all day.

I was wondering. Now that Sheogorath is dead, and he has become Jygalag...

Would that mean his realm or the shivering isles no longer exists?

Sheogorath is not dead, and the Shivering Ilse still exist.
