It would be added to my most anticipated games list the minute they announced it. I'm not holding my breath though. That's bad for children and other living things.

It would be interesting news, but there's a large gap between "sequel" and "product that happens to use the same name" that I don't have much faith in people's ability to cross.

If this happened, mind = blown. Planescape is my absolute favorite traditional rpg. I thought this wasn't possible due to the setting not being supported as an official D&D thing anymore? If there is one developer that can be trusted with this, it could only be Obsidian.

I'd not say this would be Torment 2, for obvious reasons. But a new Planescape game would be mighty fine, after Wizards abandoned the setting pretty much completely. Which is the biggest problem to solve to make this game in the first place.

Yeah, that's what I'm guessing too. A new game in the same setting, but not a real sequel to Torment. I can't imagine it would continue the story of The Nameless One or something like that, because that story is finished.

Regardless of how it would turn out, I'd like to see it happen. :)

But it's not really a traditional RPG...

Seriously, a sequel would be really out of place. Like, "Planescape Torment 2: Torment of the Planescape". I would pull a murder-suicide (this is hyperbole, guys).

A game set in the same universe with Chris Avellone working on it could be nice, though.

I agree, but why did you have to put that out into the cosmos?

I've heard some good things about the 1st one and I wouldn't mind a 2nd one although it probably won't be on consoles which would svck for me personally.

If nothing else, the interviews says good things about Obsidian simply because it's CEO -not someone from the development side, someone from the executive meddling side[!]- said, "We’d have to think a lot about it, because it would have to be done right, otherwise the fans of the original would be pissed off and new people wouldn’t get it. That would be terrible".

Planescape: Torment is the last game that needs a (direct) sequel, imho.
Would like to see more games like it, though :)

It could just be a game set in the same universe, it doesn need to be a sequel (they could just remove the number 2 on it a put a tilte)

Yeah it would make sense to lose the Torment part of the title and just call it Planescape: Something.

I just started playing Planescape last month and it's definitely one of the best RPG's hands down.

Obsidian is really the only ones who could make it, or else we might get http://i.imgur.com/P88QN.jpg.

While PS:T is the best game ever (and that's Planescape, OP, not Planetscape ;) ), I'm not all that excited for a sequel. A new Planescape game, sure, but a sequel to Torment? No way, that game was so good you simply can't top it, especially now that games are big business and you have to make games with money-grubbing production houses and distributors breathing down your neck. I'd prefer if Torment remained how it is, not followed by a sequel that can't be anything else than disappointing with the bar being so high.

Did XCOM ruin your hopes for good sequels?

I am starting to think that I am the only person looking forward to that game.
That being said, I never played any of the originals.

Are you telling me you never imagined a love triangle concerning both Morte and Dak'kon?

Morte wouldn't have it. He prefers them dead or with a tail, remember?

I was thinking of Annah and Fall-From-Grace actually... Maybe leave TNO out completely and just have him convince Ravel to join.
