Play after ending?

I apologize if this has been asked before so please don't attack me :) But I played New Vegas years ago and I hated that I couldn't play past the main ending so I stopped playing it. But does the Lonesome Road DLC allow you to play after you beat it? Similar to how Broken Steel allowed you to play after the main storyline in Fallout 3?
