Play as different races? Ideas for races and their specs

There are several races you can play already, there doesn't need to be anymore.

They could do stereotypical statics for each race, but then people would whine about it being racist. Me idc, no new races.

No, that makes no sense. There wouldn't be enough aliens to make that feasible in the Fallout Sol System.

Mole rats, the superior race.

You have caravan, & then you have mole rat caravan. They also have mole rat black jack, poker, & slots.

Maybe races AND factions?

That's the best idea since I've heard since iron sights were implemented in NV.

How are we supposed to play as different factions?
Start out as being part of them? How will this work with the main quest?
What will your role be in this faction? How does it relate to the main quest? How free are you to do the main quest then?
What happens if you decide you want to join a different faction? Do you have to "join" and have a "rank"? What will the faction you started out in think of your change of heart?
How will factions work with each other? Am I completely locked in if I side with Faction A at the get go?

No, we should not be able to "play" as a faction from the get go.
We should make our alliances as we progress through the game.

I included an unaffiliated protagonist option in which you could choose sides, just not as many benefits will be earned from that faction because you weren't born into them/with them long enough. If someone wants to play embedded in a faction, then I think it should be an option. A regular recruit/helper like the fallout protagonists can't rank very high in any faction but the BoS. You're always just "that guy who came along and helped us". Caesar never formally accepts you into his legion, the NCR never lets you into the army, you will never see yourself become leader of an independent New Vegas, etc. So why not play a formal member of these factions with all the benefits? Some factions will be friendly or hostile depending on their ideals. Maybe you could start out doing lowly tasks until you're noticed by your Elder/Caesar/Legate/NCR General/Tribe Chief, etc and given some better tasks, ranking up as you progress.

Keep in mind, the Fallout series boasts its power of choice, so why be able to choose to be a member of these factions instead of being

"that guy who we :
  • used
  • made our protege
  • made a coin of
  • Never rewarded
  • Don't recognize as one of us
  • Are still hostile to after his selfless service to our cause"
I'm just saying I don't want FO4 to be like Skyrim and have my stranger character become leader of a powerful faction without doing much at all. If I wanted to become a high-ranking individual, I'd want to play as a member of that faction and not be some wanderer who became leader of everything or never become part of the group I helped.

Then the chance to become a leader, shouldn't be an option. Which in Fallout, it's never been like that, unlike the Elder Scrolls. You were simply a member of those groups, but not a leader.

Adding different races to the game may end up ruining the fun for me, the only way they could add it and make it enjoyable for me if 1) There were only Ghouls and Humans, 2) The reasons Gabriel has stated, and 3) Each race has a backstory that doesn't affect the main story, say for instance you play as a ghoul, your backstory would be you trying to find redemption after many horrible events in your past

Oh.

Then no.

Bethesda does not have good writers.
Bethesda is not good at designing quests.
Bethesda is not capable of great RPG design in quantity.

So do I want Bethesda to spread their resources even thinner so that questing becomes like Skyrim's?
No.

Bethesda isn't competent enough for Fallout's RPG design and TES' quantity design.
They have to choose between quality or quantity, and I want quality.
Allowing multiple starts to the game will spread the resources thinner and the rest of the game will suffer from it.

So no.

I want there to be a starting position that is the same for every character.
Then it branches off the further along you go with it.
I do not want several branches to start out with and then have "them" branch out even more.
It's too complex for Bethesda, their studio will probably implode.

Needs to be done right I mean really real right and same goes with races. It shouldn't be like how it is currently for the six of the pc.. you pick a female char and spend 20 minutes trying to give her a sixy face and then another ten getting the hair right and then you walk out into the wastes wearing a hot tribal armor and no one even looks up at you when you walk by let alone make a pass at you or try to take you out/get into bed... so disappointing :/

That said if done right could be fun and I would love Fallout even more..
