I just downloaded Oblivion off of steam, onto my new computer. As soon as it was done I was able to pull up the start menu, which in my experience is weird because there is always a window that "prepares for first time setup" or something along those line. That did not happen this time, I'm guessing because I have played it before, just on a different computer. When I pull up the menu the only selectable options are Elderscrolls.com and Exit, the other 5 options are faded and cannot be selected. Any advise on how to fix this?

And I apologize if this problem has been solved before, I did not find anything in my quick search of the forums.


UPDATE: I got it working fine, I defragmented the game cache, twice.

Try deleting your Oblivion.ini in My Documents/My Games/Oblivion.

I don't see that file in my Oblivion directory. At least not with that exact name, I have an 'Oblivion' with an oblivion gate icon and it's type is classified as "application" is that it?

He means your C:\Users\...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder

There is a text file called oblivion.ini. Delete that one.

DO NOT DELETE anything in your main oblivion folder.
