Play as a raider?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 3:17 am

I don't mean being a psychopath with one follower going on a killing spree on the whole wasteland with just the two of you, but what about a gang leader? You take over settlements, attack convoys, steal food, and it becomes more than just a gang? You'd have to fight Regulators and other vigilantes and other raider gangs. You lead your gang, not all the time on the front lines but also in planning? You recruit your lieutenants based on what skill they have, how vicious they are, etc. Once a while some raider will challenge you for leadership if you turn out to be a bad leader, etc.

This could be cool. Perhaps with it being an unlockable with a string of perks including, but not limited to, scoundrel and pickpocket, eventually leading you to become the Slum King, or something similar.

Yeah it would probably need its own game to make it work.

I don't know, it can work. Don't think it needs it's own game for it to work.

Well it would take a lot of resources to put in, and the people who won't play as a raider will miss out on that large part of the gameplay. Maybe as a DLC?

Probably a small mod. Honestly don't think it'd be that hard or that different from regular settlement building.

I would like this, maybe even being able to extort lesser settlements and break the larger ones to give you tribute to not attack them. Look at what the tactics Vikings used to extort cities, stuff like that

Hope those perks wouldnt be a necessity, i dont really see raiders as particularly good talkers nor pickpockets, though if they added new perks like one that grants a better chance to run in fear when you waste one of their buddies or something i could see.

I don't think it would take much. We are already getting the means to make settlements, so there should already be framework for seeing over a group of people. I agree that a mod would probably work well, even if it isn't part of the base game.

Maybe if you could make your settlement's inhabitants go out and raid, with the option of leading them...

Id make a character for that, just as i have had a Raider character in FO3 and FONV

If you are a pickpocket, you are likely to run in the same circles as other thieves. Being a scoundrel invokes a sense of the PC being a greasy used car salesman, or a con artist type, to me. Anyhow, those were just meant as examples of characteristics that would steer the PC in the direction of leading something like a raider group.

I'm not saying it should be perk based, necessarily. I just like the idea of building a character that would be inclined to such a lifestyle.

A DLC where we put together a band for good or for ill for our settlement or otherwise. I'd buy it.
