X-Play Skyrim interview music

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 5:32 am

Apologies if this has been posted already, but I haven't been paying much attention to this forum as of late so I wouldn't know either way. Attribute woes, DX11 graphics, et cetera et cetera, not much seems to be different. gamesas forums, how I love thee. :D

Anyways, has anybody noticed the new music in the http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/04/18/todd-and-tim-talk-to-xplay/ Adam Sessler had with Todd? Now maybe I'm horribly wrong about this, but I guess it's safe to say that it's more of Jeremy Soule's work. And thus far, I'm loving the sound of it - it has a very entrancing, mystical "frontier" atmosphere like Morrowind did. The Celtic instruments help to add another layer of interest to it as well.

Yeah. I am sated.

I was thinking that when I heard it too. It's quite a unique piece of music, I'll give it that.

I noticed this too but assumed it was just improvised by the folks at G4.

I hope not. I think it may be a track for a tavern, because it has a very characteristic minstrel feel (almost like Arena/Daggerfall's music) as opposed to having a lingering presence in the background.

I noticed it and immediately thought, "this is probably among the most annoying music I have ever heard" so... REALLY hoping it's not from Skyrim, plus the production values are way below par for ANY game these days, let alone this one.

It's called production music, companies use it when they don't have any official music.

But still, the music was kinda good, but also annoying at the same time.

It's sounds like it's from Daggerfall definitely. I hope we get tavern music like this again in Skyrim.

I've listened to Jeremy Soule's music for so many games and this is absolutely NOT his style, especially with the dark tone this game is going to have. It's just random interview music.

I couldn't stand it. Why even put music in at all? If it was any other game I would turn it off.

It's NOT his style for atmospheric music, that's for sure. But how can you be completely sure they didn't ask him to make this type of music? Generally composers have range, even if they don't utilize it.

[edit] Hah, listening to it again at a higher volume I don't think it's for the game lol. Seems too modern.
