Played for first time in a few months, suddenly unplayable..

Hello,

Last time I played was at 1.7 I believe, also before the big update to Steam where it all was reinstalled to allow for incremental updates. Before then I ran at 720p medium settings, quite a few mods, texture pack, realistic lighting, etc. and had playable framerates around 30-50. My specs below. Now after that patch I tried playing again, and it was simply unplayable, sub 10fps even on low settings! I've just now reinstalled the game, removed all mods, savegames, etc. starting completely fresh with the 1.8 patch. It's still nowhere near the original performance I once had. + On Low settings now, there's a weird lag to my actions. Takes about a .5-1 seconds before mouse movement or keyboard input is registered... (sound is instantaneous, only video slow) Help!

My specs (I know it's not top but it has worked alright before!):
Sony VAIO
Quad core Intel i7-2640 @ 2.8Ghz
Toshiba 128GB SSD
Intel HD3000/AMD HD 6630M (obviously running discrete)
4GB ram

Any ideas as to what has happened? I'm lost...

Try newer or older video driver or simply reset everything in CCC if you made any changes. Other thing you can check is in My Games delete all Skyrim files (you can leave the saves). Shadows in Skyrim are the most hardware demanding visuals so put them to low or medium. You are playing on laptop so make sure it's connected to the power socket ALL the time!
