Player built gardens in Skyrim

Post » Sun Jan 23, 2011 5:07 am

While I was playing Oblivion, I came across various types of flora in its huge game world and I thought of a thing which was not possible for me to do in oblivion and expect that Skyrim could make that happen.

My Thought : I wish to collect seeds of various flora in the Skyrim and sow them in the home ( Or properties ) purchased by the player in Skyrim game world. And as days passes in the game world I wish that the seeds get transformed into flowering plants and in this way the payer has the abiltity to build gardens with various kinds of flora.

The reason behind this thought is that " the flora in oblivion is really beautiful, colorful and soothing to look at" :-)

Farming was confirmed as a minor thing to do. It would be nice to see you be able to do things besides just alchemy plants though, like the various flowers and bushes that have no purpose other than aesthetics. I wonder if they will let you plant things almost anywhere or if they will ruin it by forcing you to use tine plots of land like Runescape.

If normal flowers can't be planted the modders will surely take care of it

Hopefully it is NOTHING like the Runescape variation.

Its not an agricultural sim, so you can bet you'll only be able to plant where you are supposed to: in your FARM. Whats confirmed is farming, not landscaping, so if you can plant stuff, it wont be anywhere you like.

True, but that svcks. I am playing a mod on Oblivion that lets you plant things like alchemy ingredients basically anywhere outdoors. It is a lot nicer than having to buy a farm you don't want just to only plant in that area. In fact, limiting where you can plant seems like it would be more developer work than just saying "No interiors, not in water (except for some plants), and only on actual ground, no planting on other models"

In ob there is a mod that lets you collect seeds and plant them. I always use it to enable me to make gardens wherever I want them.

For me, I'm fine with it just being on my Farm, from a Roleplaying perspective I wouldn't really plant anything in the forests or someone else's land...

I say yes, plant anything in fertile soil and it will grow with time if you water it enough.

Yes anywhere should be plantable but there should be a good chance they don't always grow... Also if that's the case u should be able to harvest the whole plant( to get rid of it or just get more stuff from it and get rid of it) as you could plant more. Seeds should be rare or seasonal.

It's a secret wish of mine that because of dynamic snow and the differing areas of skyrim we will see seasonal change, ice sheet build up snow depletion and bluild up. Along with flora and funa changes like seeding plants and baby animals. Don't hold out for it but a lil hope of excitement is good IMO.

Expect the ability to create this yourself through the use of the Creation Kit.

hahaha exactly buddy, FARMING has been confirmed. for ALL you know mr definitive, this could be an agriculture sim. seeing as how in depth bethesda is it wouldnt be surprising if they made it quite complex. you come to a forum just to post your pessimistic replies it seems.

As for farming i cant wait to see what they do with it. it would bring back the harvest moon days for me. seeing your crop grow and produce food would and then to harvest it and sell or use for potions would be so cool. im sure bethesda has it all under control
