No player guild for me

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 6:50 am

The whole account bound guild BS is on my top 5 list that I won't be playing past the first 30 days.

I don't mind if they know for a main or whatnot... But it's the playing solo bit, or maybe I just want to collect mats for a while. This could take the privacy away when they see you logged on for a couple/few hours and ignored everyone. Not sure if something like this will become an issue or not.

Well I just applied to a trade guild. I will see how the "show offline" option works when game goes live for my pre order. If I don't like it I will /guild quit and just rely on posting my wares on in game chat. I did not say spam, I said "post". Once every 10 minutes or so. Maybe they will come up with a trade chat channel. Yes, I know pick up groups can be chaotic at times, but whatevah, I will rely on them for pve/pvp.

I've never really had this problem in other games. In my guilds, I'm always a notorious pushover who will run over and help almost everyone who asks, but my guildies always understood when I responded with something like "Sorry, can't. In the middle of something."

If your guild doesn't understand when you need some solo time, then you are in the wrong guild.

No. Sorry but that is a lame excuse for restricting people's freedoms.

What your essentially saying is if your friends don't respect your desire for privacy, then you should get new friends, but however you are not entitled to any privacy. EVERYONE is entitled to privacy.

This is correct. I tested it with a friend a couple of betas ago. You can set your status to "offline" either globally or per guild, so you could appear online to one guild and offline to another, and then you have all the "me time" you want.

I was worried about this too, which is why I looked into it. With that option, should not be a problem though

Personally I think the benefits of per-account rather than per-char guilds outweigh the costs, but people will have different views on this of course. When I was heavily involved in WoW, my friends, guildmates and I spent a lot of time keeping track of all each other's alts for the people we wanted to be in touch with.

If you're looking for a guild where freedom for its members is important, where the only "rule" is to respect your guildmates and other players, please check out Spectres of the Phoenix. Make sure and read the Rules section.

I also WONT join a guild.. I will create my own and I will be me and myself.

I am not interested for super guilds.

I am not interested for arguments, we experienced bad environment in a 50 peoples guilds in the past and other mmos.. What about 500.

I am not keen of following anybodies orders

So I will make my own and do my own thing.. I will only may be a guest in 4 others for the trade option... if not, thats ok,,, this guild trade thing will fail after all.

Zenimax must find solutions for soloers... I mean I am dyslexic and one of our characteristics (most of us), we are not that social and we prefer to do our own thing. Zenimax tends not to respect players who want to be solo or their own thing. They could give only to those who wish NOT TO join guilds, a personal merchant to travel all over the TESO world and sell our stuff...

Forcing me to join a group of people, is not going to work.

The chat window, will end up as a merchant chat, if they dont give us alternatives. Do they have alternative channels other than "generall? Like in the old times "trade channel" etc

If they dont give us alternative channels, the chat will end up as a spam chat. And me as one of them, try to sell my goods :) Because I dont wish to join guilds.

I definitely think you should be able to choose a guild for each of your character rather than the account. It's a big minus.

That wasn't what I was saying at all. I like privacy too, and fully intend to use the "offline" setting pretty much by default.

I'm just saying that we are all people on the other sides of the screen. Your guildies will probably understand if you want to go quest alone for a while (assuming you even show as online at all), because they will no doubt do the exact same thing from time to time. Sorry if it sounded like I was defending anything intrusive. :twirl:

Somewhat OT... I had absolutely no clue that was a trait/behavior of dyslexia.

Anyway, I believe a lot of it is soloable. You might have to group in some instances but you could be a pug when you need to be, and still do things without joining a guild.

I group up , I am not against it and I am not that extreme,, but I dont like to speak or read or argue all the time.. lol And especially following other peoples commands. but I love my peace more.

Guilds are noisy.... SO yes, lets make a poll, for TRADE channel in the chat window! They have to, be able to avoid the spam.

Isn't there a limit to the number of people in a guild? So if all alts join a guild won't guilds limit the number of alts they allow you to have on your account?

I'm making a guess that your account joins and is counted and not each character.

I have a feeling that even if you have 8 characters and are in a guild, it will only count you as 1.

I really hope so. The last thing we need is guilds trying to force people to delete their alts to make room for someone else.

SWTOR does the same thing. Not a problem in a small guild, but on a larger guild that's recruiting a lot of new players/characters, you get achievement notifications every 30 seconds. It's extremely annoying, and why I ended up turning off guild chat on some of my characters.
