Player Houses

Post » Tue Nov 10, 2009 7:06 pm

I was just wondering if someone has a list of all the houses you can use (safely) in New Vegas without you actually owning them. On the Fallout Wikia it has a list of some of the houses you can use but I've heard of people using other houses safely besides the ones listed (like the Fisherman's Pride Shack).

Heres a link to the list-----> http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_player_housing

Does anyone know of any other safe houses besides the ones listed?

Basically all of them?
Mailboxes shouldn't be used for storage, they seem to occasionally respawn once. But most everything else doesn't, it's not like Morrowind or whatever. So pick a place with non-red-text containers and there you go.

...all those little abandoned shacks work...even the snipers shack. I've kept stuff in all kinds of out of the way places for 'game months' and it's all fine. However I'm not sure about a few of the containers in the safehouses...I've read some of them might respawn w/the special items or something, but don't know how that works...never used the safehouses.

If you're on PC tho, be careful about installing a mod that alters an interior room, if you're using it as a stash spot. If the mod removes any containers, it & your stuff will be gone when you load it up (but if you then remove the mod, they'll be back again). So remove all your items elsewhere before installing such a mod.

There's a ton of houses/dens/camps not listed on the Wiki that you can use for housing purposes, all of which have unowned containers that do not restock.

The ones on the Wiki all have various amenities either present or nearby, such as a campfire or reloading bench, however if that is not a vital concern then you can set up 'shop' pretty much anywhere.

I do not recommend using open-air locations to display any of your swag, as some wandering scavenger will almost certainly come by and swipe it. Setting up shop near an enemy spawn point is likewise not suggested unless you don't mind a constant stream of trespassers.

Many 'owned' locations have a usable bed and a water supply, however storage tends to be a problem as anything put into an 'owned' container has a good chance of permanently disappearing when the cell resets.

Thanks for the info. Do the random houses out in the Mojave count as "owned" locations. Like the buildings labeled "New Vegas Home" or something like that?

I use the abandoned BoS bunker, no problems yet (and I hope I don't experience any).

My personal favorite is the Followers' safehouse, since you can fast-travel to its front door. It provides plentiful storage, clean water, respawning food, and a generous supply of apparel, magazines, and energy weapons. And the beds provide a "well-rested" bonus.

My current safehouse is the Coyote Mines shack (it's a really good one for a companion clubhouse type of thing) which is basically The Republic of Dave's main building with a kitchen, three bunk beds, a duffle bag, a juke box, two or three lockers, plenty of boxes, and tables and chairs. The only downside is that feral ghoul troopers sometimes respawn outside (which is fine by me), but it's got a map marker and everything.

Another one is the El Dorado Gas Station, but it's not really "house" material, just a "storing stuff" kind of thing. There is a campfire and cardboard bedding outside, and Merchants travel by it regularly, but the proximity of a Cazadore nest and a Fire Ant hill is a big downside.
