Player housing explained

We need a combination of both instanced and persistent, use instanced housing for the citys, and have developer created, and more expensive housing that is persistent in the world. as much as i loved the SWG housing, being able to place a house anywhere wont work, but developers can place them like horizons did, and have it fit the landscape without have hordes of houses covering the enviroment.

this kind of housing is boring for me, but thats me, i would probably never be bothered when any kind of housing comes into eso or any other mmo that i play.

only truly spicy and suits my expectations... A house to show off my self, its not my thing... A house to enter and move out, its not my thing... Maybe use the storage room and thats it.

Because...if I've sunk hours and hours of my time into gaining the ability to have a house...and then sunk EVEN MORE OF MY TIME into furnishing it....I'll be ragingly insane with anger if someone were to come along and "break into" my -uninstanced- house and take things I've worked so very hard for. Insane enough to go to Zenimax offices and flip tables. With instanced housing, my time investment is safe.

If you disagree and suggest something like being able to break into someone's ingame house...I would dare say that you've never had anything actually stolen from you. It's -not- a nice feeling, I can assure you. I also point out the various and sundry API threads as evidence of how people rage when something they like/have sunk time into gets taken away in a digital realm.

No, if Zenimax is to ever do player housing, it needs three basic things:

1) To be instanced.

2) To be accessable by anyone, meaning if you solo, you can get a house. If you PvP? House. If you PvE? House. It cannot be tied to anything and a player cannot be railroaded into doing content they don't want to do in order to get it.

3) It needs to be a -reasonable- time sink. Don't make it your second 40 hour a week job, with possible overtime. Make it for casual and hardcoe alike.

Lol, WHAT? Where did you come up with the fact that if your house isnt instanced, people will be able to steal your items? That from my experience has never been implemented in any MMO's i know of.
