Player housing outside of Megaton and Tennpenny Tower

Just curious to what you guys and girls have used, that has safe storage? I'd like to use something different then the traditional housing in this game.

Everything that isn't marked red is safe storage I believe. I've never had a "owned" container res-pawn.

Personally, I've used as housing:

Evergreen Mills
Paradise Falls
A few metro areas
Raven Rock (with mods)
Adams Airforce Base
A place in the Pitt
Blackhall Manor in Point Lookout

Super duper is my favorite so far.
Safe storage is medkits,Nukacola machines, amo boxes and Safes. A red tag indicates that you will lose Karma for taking stuff out (stealing)

As far as I know , the only downside to not having one of those two houses is that you dont own the bed , therefore you wont ever be well rested to enable the max XP gain of being well rested.

County Mainline Sewer
Mechanist's Forge
The TV shop at Jury Metro Station
Ryan Brigg's hideout and Wonder Meat Machine in the sewers below Jury Metro.
Super Duper Mart
Talon Camp near Grayditch is pretty clean and well-lit, lots of safe storage
Across from Super Duper Mart is a little camp under a bridge
One of the abandoned homes at Grayditch, I choose the one that has GNR playing instead of the Enclave station

edit: ah yes, forgot Blackhall. On my first play thru PL, I cleaned up every damn book in that place lol

Thanks for the quick replies. Only a hour and half into my character and I just cleared out the Super Duper Mart. I shot up the doctor in Megaton as I wanted the medical supplies lol so I won't be returning there.

Anywhere in particular, in Paradise Falls? Thinking about helping Slavers in this playthrough.

The nuka cola machine is the only container I can think of off the top of my head in paradise falls that doesnt have a red tag , therefore giveing negative Karma for taking stuff out. Ive never noticed if there was a bed you can use inside of PF.

As far as housing in general, it really depends on what stipulations you set yourself.

IMO ... safe storage and a usable bed is all I consider. Sometimes not even the bed.

Edit to add: As far as red tags are concerned , Im not 100% sure the 4 container types are still safe if they have one. Meaning the container wont respawn deleteing what ever you put inside.

I'm currently stashing my explosives ingredients in that ammo box under the bridge, where you get that Duck And Cover book. Hopefully my stuff will stay there!

Outside of Megaton, I use my own vault (mod) which is just south of Springvale and the M.E.R. Corp camp (another mod) outside Roosevelt Academy.

I've used Kenny's Cave in Point Lookout and the bombed out building with the Raiders next to Alexandria Arms. It helps to stockpile landmines to take care of unwanted guests if you want to go the Raider building route.

Well with console commands I just give myself a bed and an owned storage container in the slaver barracks.

When I wasn't playing on the PC version however, I used a trashcan in the bathrooms to hold any excess junk (which wasn't much, I keep my characters simple) and I slept in a bed in the slaver's barracks. There's probably a few owned containers beside the trashcan though that you can use. If you are going for more than practicality.

The trash can was never handed down as a safe container ... Albiet that particular trashcan might be (ill look it up in the gek)

There is 4 containers that are known not to respawn (wipe contents)

MedKits, NukaCola Machines,Amo Boxes and Safes.

Any other particular container may respawn.

Bodies sometimes (the behemoth outside of GNR) will stay all game as such.

But some NPC's are known to pick up stuff from bodies.\

And dropping stuff on the ground is best done in a location your sure NPC's dont travel

I've been storing my junk in all sorts of containers since I've gotten the game. I've never had any of them respawn on me. Tool cabinents, gun cabinents, file cabinents, Enclave containers, desks you name it. I've probably had stuff stored in it at one time or another (these weren't "red" marked containers though).

Personally, I think the "watch out or the containers might respawn" idea is a myth in Fallout 3. I've only seen that in Oblivion where I had to be careful where I parked my stuff.

The grey crates and boxes respawn on me about every four days. Everything else is good forever.

That may depend on where you are though. I'm pretty sure the boxes in Super-Duper Mart, for instance, don't respawn. Although that may be an exception, since I don't think anything in SDP respawns.

Usually exterior containers are the only ones to respawn, not any interior ones.
