Player names epic fail :(

There will be some options to refine your play experience. One such option is to set an RP flag to attempt to bring together RP players into the same phasing. Due to this I doubt name enforcement will occur and I hope this limits stupid names but no promises.

I for one am choosing to simply not reply to anyone with a stupid name who attempts to talk to me. I am only joining RP friendly guilds enforcing naming conventions (at least to some degrees). I am playing with global general chat turned off. Names that truly irk me will also get ignored (ignore is account based too). Names that obviously break naming rules will be reported as well.

Sadly it is an extremely rough uphill battle against the Battle.net style names that have taken over mmorpg's of late. I do not care in games like Wow which are mmos that have decided to completely drop the "rpg" element of the game but TESO is trying to be extremely lore and rpg friendly and I will also take efforts to preserve my play experience.

When I found out that ignore is account based I giggitted in my giggity.

You can report any character. Will they do anything about it, is the question.

Chuck Norris MCLXII is good choice in this case.

That reminds me of the Salter family. We were playing Boot Hill back in the ancient days, one player created a character named Jack Salter. Poor old Jack walked into a bullet in the first game, so the player scratched out Jack and wrote in John. John was gunned down by outlaws, so next we saw Jim Salter. Jim took a bullet between the eyes trying to stop a bank robbery, so next up was Jake. The player had nothing but bad luck, next was Jerry, then Jarrod, then Jackson, then...

I was able to use three names for an Imperial, sort of modeled on the praenomen, nomen and cognomen.

I also use those linked pages for inspiration, with some races like Orc and Altmer. Applying the above described technique is indeed an almost certainty to a successful character name, no matter how many players are involved.

For races like Breton and Imperial, where influenced by French and Latin languages, I try to come up with a short phrase (1-3 words) that describes their personality. I then use Google to translate it. I keep changing both the english and the translated versions until it evolves into a unique character name.
