Player stuck

Post » Sun Aug 21, 2011 8:03 am

Sometimes something happens wherein my character can jump, access menus etc., talk to NPCs if they're close enough. But cannot move, draw a weapon or cast spells. When it happens, it happens to all saves on that character. What's going on? I assume it's something to do with mods, etc., but what kind of error causes this?

Codec issue. First, try turning off music in your oblivion.ini. (in my games\oblivion) look for the setting:

bmusicenabled=1

change the one to a zero, save, exit, and play. See if the problem goes away.

Didn't fix the broken saves. Should it have?

Yes, it should have......

If you have any other controllers plugged in, unplug 'em. Simply disabling them in the ini isn't always adequate to the task.

Ok, turn off sound as well then:

bsoundenabled=1

change one to zero, try that, the game will be really quiet.

Nope, no controllers plugged in. Tried the sound, didn't work either. Also reinstalled the k-lite codec pack, likewise didn't help. I'd really rather not restart the character again. Also tried disabling sound mods (Sounds of Cyrodil and Symphony of Violence) to no effect.

Any other ideas?

I probably do in the closet, but the problem seems to have fixed itself (in the old saves) after I created a new game. Bizarre.
