Players Manual?

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2016 8:47 am

Brand spankin' noobe to Fallout 4 and wondering if there is a manual anywhere. I've somehow made it out of the vault and have even picked up a faithful dog as a companion but I don't really know what's going on or what to do next or even how to do it. By the way, is there a way to fed the dog? I have picked up a can of dog food.

Thanks.

The "Help" section in the menu will explain how many things work, but when it comes to what to do, well that's all up to you. Follow the quests in your pip-boy, or ignore them. It's up to you. ;)

The dog doesn't need to eat, the canned dog food is for you to enjoy :P (eating food restores HP)

I suggest talking to as many characters as possible and learn as you go.

Don't try talking to the ones with a red bar above them though.

Kill them or run away.

Get the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide from your local Gamestop.

If you mean a guide, then the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide is the official one. Honestly though, there isn't any information in there that isn't on the Wiki. It's a nice condensed volume and may be easier to reference in game, but the Wiki has basically the same information.

Look at the keybindings to find out what the controls are (although not everything is in there).

Read the "help" section in the pause menu.

Read the wiki (Google "fallout 4 wiki")

Talk to people in the wasteland.

Kill people (and monsters) in the wasteland.

Explore.

Have fun exploring, killing things and talking to people!

All will unfold in the fullness of time (spent playing).

It's not quite as bad as Dark Souls, but yeah, could use a bit of a first-timers tutorial or sumn. ;P

Oh yeah, read these boards and ask questions - helpful people will help, trolls will troll.

And the two most important game play rules to remember are:

Save, and save often; and

Don't be afraid to runaway, and come back to fight another day.

To add to this.

Save in multiple save slots.

And did we mention, save, save and then save some more ;)
