12/16 players is too many

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:48 pm

I have refrained from playing the Instant Action mode because the number of opponents is just too great (Team Instant Action reduces the number in half). Kills/deaths begin to rely too much on luck and not enough on skill when there are so many players around. If anyone here plays StarCraft II, it's like the difference between a large FFA match and a 1v1 or 2v2 match. If most players like having so many opponents, that's fine, but why are there virtually no servers with a 6-8 player limit?

I recently played an IA match with 3 other opponents. It was such a tense fight, as you cannot really get lucky kills and you're not expecting to die so quickly.

Does anyone else feel that the 12-16 player cap is just too much at times?

don't forget the time, 10 minutes. if a game with 8 players (instant action) fight each other in 10 minute is a little harder to kill 25 players.
and don't forget crysis 1 with 16 and more players.

have fun :)

Agreed.

Instant Action is just IDIOTIC with 16 players. It really needs to get toned down.

IMHO all of ranked should just be 6 on 6, but so many PC gamers think more players = MORE PRO LOLOLOL THIS ISNT SPAM THIS IS FUN. Look at all the 32 player servers when COD4 was the thing-- on maps designed for 8 v 8 tops. The masses are idiots if you reward them for it with a leveling system.

And that's it!
I hate Instant Action 'cause you can't play properly with 16 players... Too much luck on these small maps...

And that's why I liked PowerStruggle with 16 vs. 16 on larger maps... But this is a different story... :(

Then why not double the length of matches with less players? I recall played FEAR online with 20 minute games. Very tense when there are only a handful of players. I can't believe that people were actually complaining about the 16-player limit, wanting 32 instead.

Yes, even on the largest maps you still get people spawning right behind you 5 seconds after you spawned there yourself. Most of the time the person who wins firefights is just someone that was quietly sitting to the side, and shoots both people single shot in the end.

Everyone biched that mp was only 12 players before the game came out. You blamed consoles for the low number. Well, you got what you wanted now deal with it. This is the perfect example of why whiners should be ignored, They have no clue about what they bich about.

Agreed, there's too many players in Instant Action to make it fun. The rest of the gamemodes are alright though.

Assault rocks.

When you think about this properly, you might realise that we have two different groups of people complaining. People who favoured high player count complained when it was low. Now that the player count is high, those who stayed quiet before are now complaining.

How do you know anyone in this thread thought that before release?

I certainly didn't.

Yes we need less people for this game type... or bigger maps....

It's hard to to find 12 player servers? :(

Problem is mostly not the size or layout of the maps, it's the REALLY BAD spawncode.
Especially when it comes to objective gametypes, the two teams could spawn in two different spots away from the obj and each others and possibly still have some randomness to avoid spawn camping.
As it is now, your more then likely to spawn right next to enemies which is why you get shot in the back 24/7.

Don't know who "everyone" is, but I've always preferred smaller player numbers in every FPS I've played.

It's not just the spawning, as I seldom get killed upon spawn, or because of where I've spawned. 12-16 players is just too many for these maps.

I don't understand why servers with 8 players max and longer games launch more often. All 8 max player servers, if you find them, are empty.

You on the other hand don't know what they are whining about. It's all about map sizes. Even in SP Crysis 2 maps are much smaller then in Crysis 1. In every console game there is limited amount players around 12-16, so map sizes are much smaller. This is why i like Battlefield games more then COD there you just sprint all over the map and just shoot everyone on sight. C2 would have been much more fun with much larger maps and more players, maybe even some vehicles.

I also liked max 12 players more, even at Instant Action ... it was a very good decision from Crytek ... that was great balanced for tactic gaming, not only firing somewhere, somebody would be hit

But it depends ... at other MP modes it's OK with 8vs8 too

Anyway ... there are enough servers offering max 12 for Instant Action or 4vs4 and 6vs6 for other modes ... so go playing there

The player count is too high for Assault also. Its turns the game from a tactical stealth game mode to lets see how many defenders I can melee before im raqed game mode.
