Players who have '[EU] BETA ' On Launcher

Post » Wed Feb 26, 2014 7:14 pm

You will not be able to login this weekend until doing the following.

Players should note that the current beta will ONLY be testing the North American server and requires the launcher's region to be set to the United States.

Changing the region to Europe will result in the launcher downloading a new version of the game client. Using that new client, the player will not be able to take part in the upcoming beta.

Players will still have the ability to play the game in any of the three supported languages (English/French/German) by selecting the desired language from the Language dropdown in the Settings menu.

_______________________________________________________________

If players downloaded the European version of the beta client by accident, they can still take part in the current beta. The steps are listed below.

Windows users:

  1. Click "Settings" in the top right of the launcher.
  2. Change the region to "United States" and click "Apply."
  3. Exit the launcher and locate the client's install folder (most often C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online).
  4. Rename the folder "The Elder Scrolls Online (EU)" to "The Elder Scrolls Online."
  5. Open the launcher and ensure your region is still set to "United States" and that you can access the North American server.

Mac users:

  1. Click "Settings" in the top right of the launcher.
  2. Change the region to "United States" and click "Apply."
  3. Exit the launcher and locate the client's install folder (Navigate to "Finder", then click "Application" and finally "Zenimax Online").
  4. Rename the folder "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" to "The Elder Scrolls Online."
  5. Open the launcher and ensure your region is still set to "United States" and that you can access the North American server.

Players should contact customer service if they have any further issues downloading the client or connecting to the beta server.

Yes where is this information from? Mine says EU, but I still got an invitation to Beta test saying "All you need to do is run your launcher and let it patch!"

Thanks for the info, but that source may be based on an older version of the launcher. When I went into the program files I found two Elder Scrolls Online files (one with EU and one without). I had already changed my region to US and decided to relaunch the launcher without making any folder name changes. Sure enough it's now downloading the US client. Looks as though the current version only requires you to change the settings, close the launcher and then reopen it.

"All you need to do is run your launcher and let it patch! Remember to log in with your UserID, not your email address. This beta is a stress test of our system. You are required to log into the NA server, but you can play the game in the language of your choice. "

Quote from the email.

The information provided was listed on the main support page, I would still by the instructions, there could be reasons for particular steps.

This as i already had the us version installed then had updated to the EU version by just changing the settings to US it now reads as THE Elder Scrolls Online beta and by closing down the patcher and reopening it has still stayed on the US server.

Should just add i have both files present, normal and EU beta.

It might be as when i got the new EU download, there was a lot of ppl who were being advised to not download the patch but to just rename the folder to avoid the large download.

Now I'm confused, I'm from Europe, should I do anything at all or leave it as it is Beta EU?

My email said explicitly to log in on the NA (North American) server. I am from Europe too, but they are opening just one server. All I do is change the setting to the American server, and I assume that is all I have to do.

If your launcher says your game is EU beta in the list on the left, you will need to follow my steps.

This.

If you haven't downloaded the client, then change the launcher to US under settings and d/l that client. There should be nothing in the launcher related to EU, in either settings or game/folder name.

If you've downloaded the client before from previous betas, even if you're from the EU like myself, it's the US version anyway - change your launcher to US and it'll use the version it needs and won't require a new d/l.

That's not correct there was a fluctuation of players who automatically started downloading an EU version, which had (EU: beta in it's name, those with that name are trying to connect to the EU client. THIS beta is NA only. They need to follow the steps if they have EU in it's title on the launcher.
