PC Players, will you purchase a physical copy or a copy thro

I believe Steam is easier, but if you wish to play it without downloading or you like collecting boxes then go with physical...

I'll be buying the physical copy but I do have a question.

I remember buying the physical copy of Might and Magic: Dark Messiah and playing it for a while before I ever installed Steam. Then after I installed Steam it allowed me to register it on Steam and I had the option of installing the game from my disc which required the disc to be in the drive to play or install it off of Steam which didn't require the disc to be in the drive. Do all games that support Steam to this? Meaning that if I buy the physical copy and activate it on Steam I have the option of installing it from the disc or from Steam?

In my current situation I wouldn't be able to install it from Steam anyway since I basically have dial-up internet access and no foreseeable improvement in the near future but I wanted to know how it works.

Physical. I like something tangible. Besides, I have my Elder Scrolls library all pretty on my bookshelf; I can't miss out number 5!

Last time I checked, Steam does not offer Collector's Editions.

Not that I get all my games as CE's. But this is one of them.

They do, but it obviously wont include any physical bonuses. Usually its an in game item or 3, the soundtrack, making of crap etc.

I am going with a depends answer. Does the CE have a really cool physical item? Is the collectors edition steamworks based. I prefer steam games since I can redownload them whenever I want without having to worry about where my disk is. So it will be on steam. But I got Civ 5 as a gift, sinc eit was a steamworks game it became part of my steam library once I activated it. Now I just download no disk required. So if there is a really cool physical item and it is steamworks enhanced I will get a physical copy, if not I'll get it through steam.

Not true. I bought a physical copy of Assasin's Creed Brotherhood for the 360 and got the soundtrack, AC:Lineage on DVD, a pretty box, a map of Rome, Alta?r's Codex in book form, extra multiplayer characters and an extra mission. Bought the same CE through steam for the PC and got everything except the DVD, the pretty box, the map and the Codex (though it did include the new DLC). Just the game content and the soundtrack. But obviously the PC CE was cheaper than the 360 CE because it had less stuff included for obvious reasons.

Like I said, no CE's from Steam (or D2D or similar). The way I look at it is if I can't fly my aircar over the taping of Antiques Road Show in 30 years and get an wildly inflated auction estimate on my TES V Box 'O Goodies, it is not a Collectors Edition.

I will never buy the Steam copy. I understand it's great for some people, but for me it just means MAJOR inconveniences.

I plan on buying a physical copy, then pray that I won't be forced to use Steam anyway just to play that physical copy.

I rarely buy physical copies of games any more, but TES is one of the few series that I will go out of my way to get the collector's edition.

Likely several physical copies - the Collector's Edition, the GOTY edition in a year's time and a 360 edition - am happy to have the physical copy for a game that I'll spend over 100 hours playing and then modding

It's not that I mind steam. But this game in particular I would like to hold in my hands. A physical copy is easier to caress.

I didn't see the option available in the poll, but it's definitely a physical copy of the Collector's Edition for the PC for me, plus a digital copy from Steam, the special edition if available goes without saying.

Unboxing is a very exciting moment that no digital download will ever match.

Physical. If there's no physical copy available, I won't buy it at all. Full stop.

LAWL what?

For me I will buy the physical GOTY copy (but we might be required to play through steam anyways right?)

I just like to have physical copies of my Elder Scrolls games. Steam is awesome and lets me keep track of tons of games and install them wherever I want, but I WANT the physical copy of Skyrim.

Normally I buy all my games on Steam, but for Skyrim I think I'd rather have a physical copy. Just because.

Depends on what is cheaper

Will probably be physical then. Steam is (usually) overpriced in europe.
