It's not so much a glitch really. Each character you create can start out as "Resistance" or "Security", but I tend to think of it as who I would support if I had to be one thing for all eternity. As far as playing online goes, you're still gaining experience towards leveling your character. Think of it another way: rather than choosing a side, then constantly tweaking your gameplay style and perks, you actually set up a perk/stat profile, and then choose a suitable skin for whatever storyline you're trying to run through.
Oh, I understand picking the factions and that all XP goes towards leveling the character. The problem is that the game won't let me play the Campaign for Resistance in online Versus mode with my first Security character. However, it will let me play the Campaign for Security in online Versus with my Resistance character. If I select my Security character, and highlight the Resistance Campaign Day 1 level and set it to Versus, when I hit "start" it jumps up and highlights the Security Day 1 level and starts the map. But it doesn't do that with my Resistance character (I played all of both campaigns in Online Versus mode with my Resistance character). I was able to play both the Resistance and Security campaigns with my Security character, but only in Solo mode.
no.
low level cap means less pointless grinding.
I love that Splash Damage have sense enough to realize how stupid too much grinding is.
Take your level 20 character and enjoy the gameplay, or use all 10 character slots followed by using them at level 20 for fun instead of xp.
I don't really consider it "senseless grinding." At level 20 you can set yourself up really well in one class. Then you'd have one nice class to use while you keep leveling up and unlocking abilities in your secondary classes. It would be nice to be able to have at least two classes with a bunch of abilities unlocked. I'm not even suggesting enough levels to max out all classes, just enough to set up at least one really nice class, and maybe second, or spread points around the other classes. I know you can set up a bunch of characters, but A) then you have to keep switching characters, and it does no good when you want to switch classes in a match, and B ) that means you have to level up multiple characters to level 20. Talk about "pointless grinding."
