Playing on Easy but...

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:56 pm

I find I still can't get through due to:

1) not enough ammo
2) nano suit too weak
3) too many opponents

why is "easy" so hard?

Is there a way to make it? - I find no real difference to Soldier. I am playing SP only - not interested in MP.

Wow.. I find myself full of ammo all the time?

Many opponents - yes, but just put on cloak, sneak around, find a good spot, switch to armor and nail 'em!

Going through the second time, i find i need my guns less and less as I can just sneak by most of my enemies.

Playing for the 3rd time now and have not noticed any difference between easy to hard.

But yeah, just cloak yourself and try some stealth kills if you are having trouble hitting the target.

cloaking works only a few, maybe ~5 seconds, especially when you run - not very helpful

The nanosuit modules help alot once you can get them. Until you do though I try to find a good vantage point tag as many enemies as I can see with the visor after which I snipe a guy or two with headshots (doesn't really matter what gun but SCAR is my favourite). If your at an area that enemies can't get to you its possible to clear our most of an area without having to move, however, if the enemies can get to you kill a few then cloak and move positions.

Unfortunately this doesn't work as well against the aliens as they don't die from 1 headshot and they can get to areas normal marines can't get to I find myself using stealth kill alot. It doesn't work in areas where the AI have infinite respawns and the only way to stop them respawning is by moving into the next area. On my first playthrough (on highest difficulty) I'd waste a fair bit of ammo trying to kill them, on my second play through I just stealthed through those areas because I didn't see the point in trying to kill the AI.

One last pointer is single trigger for shooting and repeat rather than holding down the trigger as guns spread far to much for most people to hold it on the target.

Sincere thanks to all constructive input!

I am advancing slowly based on the advise given here. It's like making a driver's licence in nanosuit handling and tactical city jungle warfare. Now had my first contact with an bulletproof alien (I did not survive) and extremely fast moving as well. I'll take advice to stealth more to avoid invincible aliens.

After FarCry, Crysis Warhead this game is quite a demanding challenge even on Easy

thanks again

None of the aliens are invincible. Use of grenades or c3 or the jaw is advised.
Alien soldiers can be killed with one headshot if using the dsg sniper rifle.

All of the aliens can be killed with enough firepower. The "bulletproof" ones really aren't; you just need to use the JAW or Mk. 60 or X-43 Mike.

C4 barrel bombs were pretty effective at killing everything.

Okay, progressing slowly!

What are these extras/collectibles like dog tags all about - meaningful for the game somehow?
I am asking coz I see no explanations inside the game ... everyone meant to know everything except me :)

I am asking coz I see no explanations inside the game ... everyone meant to know everything except me :)Dog tags, vehicle keys, emails and collectables open up stuff in the extras section on the main menu. I think the dog tags give you pictures of particular characters in the storyline, vehicle keys show pictures of some of NYC's cars and service vehicles, as well the as in-game Marine, Cell and Ceph ones. Emails actually show the behind-the-scenes conversations (In email text format) between some of the higher up characters in the game. And lastly the collectables show things like vista shots and concept art for the areas you visit.

Here's a tip on the aliens, many people don't use it because it doesn't do a lot of damage but the K-VOLT is surprisingly effective on the Ceph aliens, even the shielded and heavy ones. After all it does murder on suit energy, the same tech that the aliens use. You can get them from special CELL operatives, you'll know when you encounter one when they start firing electrical pellets and zeroes out your suit.

Don't get me wrong, but the game is pretty easy even on post human warrior.
How so you might ask? Easy: enemies are pretty dumb and you can outsmart them in every case.
My first playthrough was sneaky and it took some time, but second playthrough on post human i did go guns blazing and it was a LOT easier.

So my advice is, don't try to sneak around them, just turn on armor and destroy them no tactics needed.

Just make sure your shots count and you won't run out of ammo. Try firing in shorter bursts (repeatedly fire 3-5 bullets) at mid-range and aim for either the head or the spot where the neck meets the chest. You'll take guys out pretty fast.

The only thing you really have to watch out for are mounted turrets. :) Hope this helps.

this is not cod where you shoot n run. you have to use ur visor, sneak and kill quetly. if you get busted you put armor mode on and get the party started..

Thanks all!

Now further into the game ammo supply got better - seems just the start of the game (first few save points) is sparse. I hit one spot with no-texture issues down in an open storm water channel, saw 'trees in the sky' and soldiers combat aliens mid-air, the channel's tiling was missing. Gone a few steps further and turning around the tiling came back. Other than that game play is flawless even the console shows lots of texture load errors - not sure there is a connection?

Can I do screen shots inside the game?

Though you will lose it mid-way through the campaign when you lose all your weapons, then you have to wait until you encounter more CELL troops.
