Playing for fun.

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:47 am

The last time I played anything competitively my 5 year old grandson won and I had to shave the hair off my [censored]....so it goes without saying I play for fun and nothing else. If I'm on the winning side from time to time I always thank those who made it possible....they all know I had nothing to do with it.

Shouldn't treat "fun" and "comeptetive" as extremes. If you're coming into Brink with the attitude that you're just going to play around and do whatever to amuse yourself then you're no better than the guy who comes in and thinks he's going to do everything he can to win. Both will end up making it a bad experience for others.

This is a team/objective based game, if you're not in it to win then don't play. At the same time that doesn't mean you have to take it seriously and get mad when you lose. Don't mistake being in it to win for being in it to be the winner.

Lol cheers there Mathonn, I obviously (to me anyways, sorry if it wasn't so apparent) people seem to be thinking that I'm just going to be running in circles spraying in the air shouting 'Leeeeroy' or something. When thats really not what I meant. Just because I'm not taking it as serious as some people doesn't mean I don't like winning, or that I don't even want to win, when infact I do. But my idea of a competitive gamer seems to be different than the norm here, so I guess thats why all the confusion came about. So.....

Hold hands and sing?

No confusion on my end friend....Your gaming style sound much like mine. Play for fun because life is serious enough I say.

I have done competive gaming and it was fun had a blast cuz we were laid back but serious when playing.
I've been in groups that practice everyday, kick people out for going negative in one game, and disbaid after one loss.
BUT then I've been in groups that never play, have a bunch of randoms in clan, and then theirs the im so drunk/high right now people
The trick is to finding people that want to play, can win and lose, and are people u have fun playing with

Looks like I've got a fair few people to add. Hoping some are Brits too!
(Nothing racial... better connection and easier playing hours :P)

Yeah I'll be playing for fun but I am pretty competitive. I get mad if I have a losing streak. Like once on BF2 I got killed seven times in a row but some asshat sniper without shooting off a single bullet and that kind of thing pisses me off but I'm not gonna be throwing the controller and rage quitting or any crap like that.

I like to have fun, and it's always fun to get a talkative, laid back team and a few cool moments in the game. Like one of those kills where you're the one who died but it was so stylin' you're not even mad cause you know whoever just killed you is just as surprised as you are.

So in a word; yes. I am playing for fun

Totally know what you're on about T4LS. Those are the moments which should unite even the likes of the Security and the Resistance.

I'll be playing to win, but not so much in the competitive side. By the end of the day (or match sort to speak), you still earned exp and maybe some new techniques/ideas to get around the map.

Thus making you stronger *resists urge to play Daft Punk*

I play for fun. Though despite this, I still do quite well when playing against others.

I fall into this category as well, my gamertag is ImmortalDrifter (shocker i know). I've been looking for reasonable people to play with.

I will deff play the game for fun over all. But to me competition is what makes the game that much more fun =). I love having rivalries with ppl in the games. Trust me when I lose im not going to bad mouth my team and say you guys suxs a lost is a lost kind makes me want to be better. Just because someone wants to win does not mean there not having fun just they rather win over losing. It is a FPS there going to be a lot and i mean a lot of competitor players on it but trust me NO ONE will play this game if it is not fun then whats the point of playing ???

I like how people are still kinda treating them as two polar opposites. I never said I'd e loosing every match, or that i was infact crap at the game and so on.

Just saying the main point of play is different.

And Legacy EKB. The difference with this is that some people get the fun from games from winning, not from the actual playing of the game. Kinda like there are 2 sorts of people, some all about the destination, whereas I'm totally about the journey.

If I keep dying or if my team doesn't haul ass during the game, but I gained a new weapon upgrade attachment due to completing a challenge, I call that a win.

Unlocking things always makes me feel like I at least achieved something, even if my team got murdered. I try to look on the bright side really. ^_^

For the most part, I love playing for fun. Life's complicated enough, so I don't really see a reason to take games, which are like an escape from real life, uber-seriously. If I lose a match, but I feel that the team and myself did well, or at least tried, then I'm totally cool with that. I can usually shake off a loss.
...Unfortunately, if I start getting absolutely destroyed, I kinda get a little hotheaded, but that's not to say that I'll throw a tantrum and ragequit or start tearing people a new one or anything. So overall, yeah, I generally play for fun. :]

I am definitely playing for fun and won't be pulling up the scoreboard if I can help it at all.

I'll be mapping the Objective Wheel to Tab if it isn't already.

I play almost completely for fun. By "almost completely" I mean that winning is fun but I really just want to have a good time with the game. I can take a loss very graciously if I had fun while playing. Win or lose, I love a nice, long, fair, action-packed battle. My only problem comes when we bomb and get wiped out. That's when I start to get angry, I hate it when people are just bad and not doing there job, but as long as the game was fun and we tried, I'm fine taking a loss.

this is me 100%..
thumbs to you sir.
