Playing as Healer

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:13 pm

We know lots of new things have been added on Skyrim, but is there any sick or ill people? Is there anykind of chance to play as healer and get your reputation and gold by healing people with herbs and magic?
That's what I have missed in previous games and now i hope it to be fixed on Skyrim, but I believe Bethesda haven't even think about it.

I haven't thought about that either, I don't think there's enough to make a decent amount of gold on.

That would be a cool little side job for some easy gold but I highly doubt it's in the game. Good idea though

Seeing as there's a group of traveling healers who can get rid of your diseases for you I think it's a safe bet that there will be "heal other" type spells in Skyrim. If there's a minor healing faction it would be ridiculously simple to use Radiant Story to set up throwaway "go here and heal this dude" type quests. I really hope they're using this thing to its full potential.

That's true and I can also create a mod for healing if it's not a part of original game.

I never saw the appeal in playing as a healer.

Healer, wonderful role to play. Think for a second, which type of mage would actually find employment, both in a military force, and as a civilian.
I would really like to have a chance for this sort of thing, but it is usually a case of sell potions or play 'let's pretend'. All the new additions to the world outside the quests and dungeons suggest, however, that they are trying to cater to players whose interests fall outside the usual axe to face/fireball to face/dagger from shadows to the kidneys types. Obviously action, quests and dungeon diving are the main bulk of the game, that's what most want, that's what sells, but there does seem to be quite a nod to other stuff this time around. As usual, we shall see.

Some people just like to heal. Just like I enjoy playing medic in TF2.

Would be fun. I'm definitely interested to see if Restoration still takes years to level (thank god for perks!).

and it would be cool if a mercenary group hired you on as a healer for an expedition or the army whether it be battle born or stormcloaks hired you on for a similar purpose

ROFL

Really it's not a viable way to make gold. Since you can go to any church and pray at the altar and get healed and blessed for FREE... why would anyone other than a scum bag pay for healing? Why would they seek someone out when they can buy a potion and heal themselves on the spot? Besides, everyone regenerates 1 HP per second.... in a world like that who needs doctors? "Damn man, I just broke my arm and shredded it to the bone in that log mill.... oh wait look, I'd better run to the doctor.... oh wait, look it's healing right up... hey it's good as new! Back to work." And since NPC's cannot catch diseases, there really isn't a market for it.

It would be cool if diseases and curses played a bigger role in the game and medicine wasn't 100% every time. Have your merc fall over sick and he can't go on would be awesome. Have to venture back to get him a potion or cure, or leave him to die, lol.

Healers are usually only useful in MMO's, lol. You might be able to find a couple of quests to heal people though.
