Playing as a mage on robes is plain boring

I'm currently playing as a pure mage (all magic schools including enchanting), and there's not a single robe I could find that actually looks good for a true mage, such as those amazing robes from the statue of Shalidor at the College. I'm currently wearing those crappy blue robes, not the hooded version, as Bethesda forbid us from wearing hooded robes with circlets. The Archmage Robes makes my wizard look like a birdman.

Plus, the mage armor perks are absolutely useless on Master, and as soon as you get the Dragonhide master spell it gives you a bonus of 80% physical damage resistance, which is times stronger than Ebonyflesh+mage armor perks and works with every single armor, regardless of being heavy, light or clothing. Not to mention that the extra perks given by heavy armor and smithing grants me access to the expert restoration perk (which is important for me to cast the greater ward spell) and respite.

Am I the only OCD player who wants to remain as a pure build? But yes, I'd like to change to armor because it looks awesome and gives me benefits from perks. I'd rather stay with robes if Bethesda actually cared about designing some robes that look like real mage robes with hats and not like a birdman or a hobo.

A True Mage doesn't care about fashion. He cares about the fruits of his studies.

We all know that robes are somewhat lacking in this game. But I think that the college robes and some other robes look okay. If they would just make a set like the one Gandalf had (grey and white) I would be all set. However, it's not hard to play as a mage with robes and it's all about personal preference I guess.

Have you looked through the wiki page to find some robes you like?

The problem is that I don't use the console or any other mods, I try to keep my game as clean as possible. I like the Psijiik Robes, but they look like a banana and are inaccessible. And every other okay-looking robes are already enchanted. There's NO other choice but using those crappy black/blue robes.

Archmage robe. And have no armour on the head/Feet/Hands (becous or mage armour perk).
I don't know why, but Dragonhide and adding Ebonyhide make you less killable.

Or use the robe Neloth use. Mirrakks Robe set ain't bad ether. But it have armour on it :/

The Archmage robes look weird and can't be enchanted. And the mage armor perks become useless once you get Dragonhide, and Dragonhide doesn't benefit from the mage armor perks and also doesn't stack with Ebonyflesh. Dragonhide + 3/3 magic resistance + atronach perk and your wizard becomes a Titan.
