Playing the other Fallouts

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 9:16 am

I am just curious to see how many people have played the other fallouts and if so have they played it before playing Fallout 3. I did not included Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel because well most people would agree it svcked, but that is because interplay kept cutting money for development. They cut alot of money form Tactics as well. So if we can just keep it to F1-2 and tactics that would be great.

I played 1 and 2(including BoS) before Fallout 3. I never got around to tactics.

This particular section tends to be fallout vets that stick around... But you might get more interesting results in the Fallout 3 General section.

Is there away for me to send this topic to that section or do I have to make a new one?

I played pretty much all of the Fallout series right when they came out... blame my older brother; he was the one who introduced me to them.
So yeah, I've been with this series for about a decade or so now. Played the first Fallout after my bro was done with it; we played FO2 together; bought Tactics out of nostalgia, after he left for college.

I still blame him for my pathological fear of the Master.
I was thirteen and impressionable. >.>

I bought Fallout 1/2 in that dual jewel case bundle campaign Interplay did back in... I don't remember. I think it was 2001 or 2002. As for Tactics I played that shortly before Fallout 3 came out.

I played Fallout 3 first and then tried the others out. They weren't bad, but I prefer Fallout 3. Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout 3 just didn't feel like the second life Fallout 3 feels like. However, I bought them and played them. I'll probably play them again when I can.

Played Fallout 1 and 2 first, and have been playing them every now and then since about 1999 or 2000. More of Fallout 2, though. Never tried tactics. I ran through BoS at my friends, and it did left a sore taste.

Played FO 1 & 2 in the late 90's and tactics soon after as most of the vets. Mostly replay FO 2 and Tactics about once a year.

I am Proudly Addicted to ALL, try tactics I will say it is different from F1 and 2 but if you like the brotherhood and having a team go for it. Most don't think it should count because of all the inconsistencies with past fallouts. Well the makers of the game kept having their budget cut all the time so they had little time and money to fix the inconsistencies, plus they were trying new things. Budget cuts is what upset Black Isle Stedio and was why fallout died with so many games in waiting to be made. It has a good story, it is ok if you don't like it after playing it or just reading about it.

Please lets not let this get into a debate over tactics being good or not, we can start a new topic if people feel we should go into that or not.

Ha! That reminds me - I really need to try Tactics. It's been in the Pile - you know, the Pile of games you own but never quite get around to playing - for ... ouch ... we're talking in years now. :embarrass:

I only picked up the Fallout Collection after Fallout 3 was announced but before it came out - one of the many to grab it in the interim to find out what all the fuss was about.

It's a fairly fun tactics squad based mission game. (Think along the lines of Jagged alliance or X-com) However all you do is fight in missions, don't expect anything else.

I bought the box containing F1, F2 and FT after having enjoyed F3. I have only played F1, though (except trying a minute or two of FT), but haven't gotten far into it. I'm in a deserted vault, trying to find something...

I've played all three plus the Fallout 1 demo which was fun. I also tried the steaming pile of *censored* that was BoS and it just felt wrong as a Fallout game.

I've played F1 and F2 before playing F3. Never played Tactics. I realised there was this third Fallout game in the works during the E3 of 2008, and I bought the collector's edition. Only managed to get through one playthrough in F3, but at least I've got the bobblehead on my shelf.

I had FO1&2 for ever but had never played them. I got FO3 and played it, then decided to try the first two. I quite like them.
