Playstation Magazine Screens

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 9:30 am

I just noticed the shot with the warhammer guy, he's wearing the same armor as the bald guy in the pic released on facebook except his left pauldron is different having what seems to be some kind of horned animal skull on it. So I guess it's possible that there is some kind of pouldron slot.

Ah! Google is not yeilding results! Say, what words do you like to type when searching for things you want?

On another note, how big is the city? Is it at least twice an OB town size? I'm REALLY hoping for them to actually be big.

The walls of that town look curiously low to me. Are they only ten feet high?

Saw the magazine in my local Walmart and only had like 15 seconds to flip through it. Wow. Just wow. Everything looks so dern good. Congrats Bethesda and thank you for your hard work. For those who don't think this is a big leap from Oblivion, I just don't get it. Look at them side by side - Oblivion is/was a gorgeous game in many ways, but also a very ugly game in many ways. Skyrim, from art direction to models to tech to atmosphere is just incredible.

The last game I bought is Red Dead. The game before that was GTA4 and before that Oblivion. In other words, all I play are open world games and these past few have held me over for years. I have a feeling that Skyrim will also be the last game I need for a few years as well.

Can't wait to see that magazine again!

But that guy with the hammer....hes just doesnt say 'Nord' to me....think hes a Breton or something?

I dunno. Looks a helluva lot like an axe to me...

I noticed that too...... Hopefully, there won't be any glitches related to getting over those. Especially if you jump from the hill behind the wall, onto the wall, and out. This should be interesting.

has anyone compared similar textures in the playstation screenshots vs the 360 version. im interested to know if the PS3 is more detailed or not? or are the pictures to vague or small to see that kind of detail on. basically things like rock and wood textures etc.

if Playstation magazine comments that a single playthrough will last 300 hrs if you want to explore everything, seems pretty likely there will be lots of people with 500-1000 hour playthroughs again, especially with mods, DLC and expansions.

Not to mention infinitely respawning dragons and Radiant Story quests.

Still haven't been able to see the screen, but maybe the walls aren't so much "loading screens" as a way to hide the further back buildings/landscape until they've loaded. So if you're on the edge of the city, the further back buildings will be changing from LOD to normal, but the walls will help stop you from noticing, and when you're inside, the landscape will be in LOD, but you can still walk seemlessly in and out.

At this point, they haven't ported it to PS3. All shots are on 360, even if they are in a "Playstation Magazine".

I expect to use alot of saves so I can experiment with the radiant story's different outcomes :D

Did the article actually say anywhere "These screens are taken from PS3?"

I thought the previous screens and the gameplay trailer were output from a PC running an Xbox360 emulator @ 1280x720 with low res textures.

Those first lines detailing the dragon attack in the tundra reminded me of LoTR when Gandalf saves Faramir and the rest of the riders from the Nazgul.

Technically, from the outside, they aren't easily penetrated or climbed over. FROM THE INSIDE, yes, they are. I was looking at it with a parkour aspect in my head (since that's what I DO), saying, "Yeah, could jump there, grab there, hoist myself up...... Not much of a WALL."

A female Nordic warrior (DOVAHKIIN) has no time for proper care of her hair. Too busy kicking dragon @$$.

The Adoring Fan certainly seemed to have enough time on his hands to reset his coiffure every day.

Is that a Nordic warrior whose duty is to fight dragons? No..... :P

All he did was stuff like: yell random things, get excited for no reason, get in the way, photo-bomb...... Etc.

I don't see how you all can mistake a Dreughr or however you spell it with Daedric Armor. The helmet of whatever it is that's wearing it is pretty clearly a Daedric Helm. I'm not talking about the scan, either. I'm talking about the magazine in front of my eyes. It's not blurry at all. It's jet black with red tips on the horns. That pretty much screams "Daedric!" to me. What else could it possibly be.

is the pic of the fight near fire against a dremora or someone in daedric armor?
hope its a dremora or else that means another game of finding 30 daedric armor sets on bandits and whatnot every 5 minutes after you pass level 35

Number 5 looks amazing.

Is the picture with the guy in the large helmet with downwards facing horns and a axe new?

Axes look incredible and realistic now also.

I like that robe in the picture with the fire. It looks like a trench coat type thing with a collar and a hood.

Some of you may or may not have seen the screens in the new Playstation Magazine, but for those of use who have, let's discuss.

Please do no post or ask for links to any kind of illegal scans.

1. The one of the draughr who appears to be in the basemant of a castle or something is cool. He is wielding a two-handed sword and is ready to swing. There appears to be a desk in the background with possibly a globe.

2. A beautiful campsite scene next to a river with a mountain in the background. Seems like there's always a mountain in the background of Skyrim screens.

3. Fighting someone with Daedric Armor on in the middle of a fire looks crazy and makes me wonder what the heck is going on.

4. A woman looking towards a large city. A rather breath-taking view.

5. A guy who looks similar to the guy in one of the two new screens recently released trying to attack the char! Whoa! Scary.

What other details do you see in the many screens?

1. That screen is meh

2. I've noticed that too (about the mountains). I think the Jeralls are about to look like little babies.

3. I think that's to show off the fire-spell effects.

4. That screen is plain awesome.

5. Cool screen.

Maybe some kind of "city scaling" is in the game, you know, reduce the size of the city while the player is outside, and when he gets in, the city is a little bigger?
