Playstation Move as a Control Device for Skyrim

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:36 am

There was no war...wii soundly thrashed both xbox and ps3. Maybe you don't like the system, but it was the winner of this generation by a long shot.

Yep. I personally dislike Wii and the sucess of it was clearly due to starting this motio nctroller thing since Move is a lot more accurate and the Kinect is a technological marvel (jsut see what hackers can do with it :o) but I still dislike motion controllers since oly party games use it and I truly think it doesn't make sense i na game like TES, where you can put weeeeeell over 100 hours into it and hoenstly I don't want to physically control my character for such a long period of time.

Even though it is A LOT more practical than the Kinect (seeing as it actually has buttons for more input and all), I don't see it happening. The Elder Scrolls just isn't the type of game for motion controls (too many complex functions that motions just can't perform), and besides, why would they make functionality for something that 2/3 of their demographic doesn't have, nor ever will have?

Though if it were to have motion controls, I'd prefer the Move over the Kinect any day.

All these "must have Move/Kinect" threads.

And not one of them has answered my simple question: How "immersive" is playing a game where you suspect something is behind you, so (being the controller yourself, y'know) you look over your shoulder and thus away from the display screen to see what it is?

Nevermind the more popular issues of running/walking across the entire map. Yeah, how fun do you suppose that will be after 3 or 4 grueling, sweaty hours of gameplay? :P

Won't be done. Move is out because Kinect is out.

Kinect is out because Wii is out.

Probably won't happen.

If they aren't making it compatable with the Kinect then why would they do it with the Move. I think it's a waste of time to focus on the move and the Kinect and I'm glad they aren't going to be in.

Not this generation. Maybe the next, when motion control is improved upon. Even still, rpgs like TES deal with a lot of menues. I'd say wait for the generation of games after the next one. Then you could probably throw on a headset and choose what your character says by saying whatever you feel like. The possibility of it working is there, the tech just isn't up to par yet. So no.

They aren't going to make a cross platform game and support motion controls on just one of them.

Well, all three platforms have motion control devices now. (With the PC using either kinect or one of the other solutions that are pretty much the same thing, just predating the current fad)

Well, they already said they aren't doing Kinect so Move would be the only option, which is where my "only one system" argument comes in.

At least the Move is a lot more accurate than the Wii. Wii has a game called CoDMW: Reflex Edition. It should be called CoDMW: Seizure Edition because the slightest twitch would send you spinning endlessly which does not help when you are getting shot at.

If PS3 had Move on release Nintendo would have been screwed because they could have easily marketed the system to everyone.

Kevin Butler (PS3 Spokesman): "It has Mature games! Kid games with and without Motion Controls! Blu-Ray and HDMI! More memory for game saves and other things! Free Online! What the hell more could you want?!"

That being said my first point saying why it won't happen on Skyrim is on the first page and has since been quoted.

The more I think about it the more I think of how the Wii remote and nunchuck could probably actually work very well for an Elder Scrolls game.

At over twice the price of a wii? I doubt it...

I've tried both Oblivion and Morrowind with wiimote/nunchuk(on PC with glovepie and bluesoleil), and it was kind of difficult. I suppose it might feel more natural over time, but I haven't a notion to try.

For a game where you dance or play guitar I totally get how motion capture and a tiny plastic guitar is better than buttons.

Not for TES. Never for ANYTHING like TES.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4XpGnegMns ensured that I will not ever buy a motion tracking action game until the day when I can't discern a nanosecond of delay.

At release, Move will not be supported. Unless they patch it in, make it a DLC, or release the PS3 game late, I don't see Move being utilized at all for Skyrim.
