Playstation Network is back up in Japan.

And btw dragonborn, your post count scares me

[censored], that's.... unbelievable. that has to be a record of some kind?

ah, wait... "dragonborn1".... the Skyrim sub-forums... I see now. one can easily get carried away in there. I once got lost, told myself I'm never going back....until September, maybe.

ahem, on topic.... has anyone actually heard of confirmed reports of CC fraud? I read somewhere there was an e-mail sent to them about someone having $300 taken out of their bank account using debit card information. I didn't even know Sony did that.

But anyway, even the site itself was saying it might not be legit, Sony I imagine hasn't heard anything from any angry customers or they would stop saying that "their is no evidence at this time CC data was taken."

As I mentioned in other threads, this has been a great opportunity to get back in to some great single player games.

a week ago I would have disagreed, but after having some time to get used to playing SP-only games again, I could honestly wait another week. my room mate, on the other hand...

Hit the nail on the head, for me, anyways.

Really opened my eyes and showed me how much I was really gaming online vs single player. As I mentioned in other threads, this has been a great opportunity to get back in to some great single player games.

And I miss my netflix! It is basically my cable t.v. I think I've grown a bit too dependent on my ps3 as my one stop entertainment center. I'm sure sony likes to here that.

And btw dragonborn, your post count scares me

I heard Netflix still works for some people?

You know, I got it to work a few times when the network first went down, but I can't get it to work anymore. Maybe I'll try again and see how it goes.

I'll tell you what, this is a major PR nightmare for Sony. If it was Winter time I'd tell sony to act like a bear and have a hibernation after they fix the remaining issues.

I really didn't think it was gonna get this bad and as more info was release things just got worse and worse. Then when the info about credit info possibly being nabbed, I saw the story pop up in main stream news sources outside the gaming world. That's when I new there was going to some serious backlash.

But part of me thinks it is the nature of the beast. Is there any network that is truly safe from hacking/crashing? Not really a matter of if, just a matter of when.

I've stated playing through single player Uncharted 2 again. I'd forgot how good the campaign was.

Still, I really want to get online on Killzone 3 again. :cold:

What is the big deal if they are uploaded or not? You still did them so why they need to be uploaded?

Just asking because I don't understand.

I see achievements and trophies as the photo album equivalents of gaming. For games without those I just keep the savegames, and yes, that means I have a few DVDs of save games and pictures (even Polaroid, if anybody remembers...) of the greatest things I've achieved on consoles, before those things were tracked as a standard.
And since those trophies are only safe when I upload them to Sony - since hardware failure would delete local data and anything that has not been synched yet is lost - I await the day I can do that again.

Oh, and fishy might get themselves a cookie for being the only one to have guessed the game right. ^_^

Just to think we used our consoles for years and years without online capabilities. Now we were without the Network for 2 weeks and it's crazy how much it's missed.

I suppose it's like the way we also used our computers for years and years with no internet connectivity. I'd rather not go back to those days, though... :ahhh:

Seeing as how you are in Canada, your requests probably get routed to the Canadian servers before being sent over to the Japanese ones (Trying to connect you directly to the Japanese servers would result in a much worse latency). So since your local servers are still down, you can't connect to the Japanese ones even if those ones are up.

Hopefully Sony announces something today. What I don't get though is they are giving us a free download, but the PlayStation store won't be up until well after the PSN becomes functional again.

Unfortunately Sony said it's going to be a while before the PS store is back up. They said the PSN will be back up first.

arghh! glad I went out and bought the disc-based Liberty City Episodes instead of waiting to download it off the store.
