A plea for Modders

[*]Get rid of the stupid "DOVAHKIIN" battlecry, if it indeed exists in the game

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that sounded incredibly cheesy.

I love the Dovahkiin battlecry! Its replaced all the profanity in my vocabulary. And I like the finish moves.

I agree on the compass, bottom of the screen is better, I dont want my beautiful sky marred. It ruins the immersion in a greater world out there and brings the eyes back in quite rudely - if you know what Im mean.

And the skill level up text needs to be slightly smaller. I have terrible eyesight but on my laptop it was way too big so uh on my big screen Im gonna be like trying to look around it all the time - futile reflex. Todd if you're reading... :toughninja:

If nothing else, there has to be a UI mod ASAP. This looks cumbersome and non functional. Also, to get rid of the pause when the PC changes equipment .

Will someone be making a way to transfer mods to the 360 and make them functional for Skyrim?

I should explain more how important this is for me....

hmmmm

ok the game was looking epic, a few gripes here and there but nothing major or that can't be easily modded in, I was happy, glad, excited, IN RAPTURE...

then some one said that we can't see our feet in 1st view

the news hit me hard

it was like getting hit buy a space shuttle as it reenters the atmosphere IN THE FACE then the landing gear was lowered on my groin and touched down on the ground.

THAT'S HOW HARD IT HIT ME

I'm so pissed and sad right now its unbelievable

Ask them if they can add some sort of a parry option for when dual wielding. You can't block ranged/magic attacks with it ofcourse and perhaps you can't block heavy melee attacks either (like from a dragon/giant).

Like... if you swing your sword just before your enemy is swining at you it'll perform a parry.

I have feet?

(looks down)

Well dang, look at that will you.

To be honest, in the real world the acknowledgement of my legs and feet at all times is not a major issue with me. Sure if I look down I would like for them to be there, but for a game it's never going to be a big deal with me.

I prefer (and only play) first person as well but I hate seeing legs/body in first person. It's just annoying in the way and somehow lowers immersion for me. So glad it's not there.

legs in 1st person view is a big deal for me anyways and it pissed me off

:(

I could not sleep last night because of this damn you Todd DAM YOU :banghead:

If you're serious about this..... wow. Not sure what else to say.

Personally, I think losing sleep over anything about a game is crazy. It's just a game. But over something so minor? A visual frill? (as compared to, say, things that actually effect gameplay, play balance, plot, interface....)

(And I still don't get this "most games" thing. Perhaps it's because I haven't played many FPS's in the last couple years, but..... I still haven't personally played any game with feet in it. Or hey - maybe I have, and it was just so inconsequential that I didn't even notice.)

that just shows how much I like games and Skyrim, the simplicity of this mistake that they have done just makes it all the more terrible.

I mean how hard can it be to make this happen??? most game nowadays do it, why not Bethesda

as I said before lack of crossbows, cloaks and whatever, is fine to be honest I mean they can be added, and you can play without them, BUT THIS no legs in 1st person view its like a new original sin and God should destroy the world because of this I think.

That's perfectly legal though. The game companies don't like it, but Apple lost when it came down to that kind of thing (Apple is very control freakish about what programs you can run on their devices, even after you buy them). Piracy is another story entirely.

Todd was talking about plans to make it safe to install mods as well as a means of policing modded content for use on the 360. Policing it to ensure its not going to ruin your game and safe so that your save games arent at risk of corruption. So mods made with the PC TES construction kit can be shared with people who play console versions of the game - Todd said not this year but if Bethesda can do it then imagine how much replayability Skyrim will have after you've spent 1000s of hours of your time playing it :tes:

I don't really want to see my legs....

I've never really understood the obsession with it. I'm quite happy being a floating pair of arms. If I need to see my legs I'll go into third person.

But seriously I've never seen legs implemented in first person and not look somehow.. wrong. Crysis 2 did them fairly well and it still didn't look right IMO. I think it's too hard to make look perfect and quite frankly I'd rather they spent their time doing something worthwhile. Like damn beast legs.

people like it because it helps with immersion and makes you actually feel like a part of the world. And also its just common sense that if you seeing through someones eyes and you look down you should be able to see your feet unless your really fat then you should see your stomach :P.

Hi all

and hi all powerful modders

after all the new info we got, we can safely say we have a general idea on how Skyrim will turn out, a great game that will set the bar YET AGAIN for others to follow

but because of time constraints, DVD space issues or just plane tech limits the developers at Bethesda seem to have abandoned some things that have become a gaming norm since 2004.

I will list some of the major ones:

1- Beast legs (time limit) which is understandable, because after all Skyrim has 10 races and maybe they just could not create unique animations and fix the clipping issues in time to make new legs for the beast races (games with beast legs are Morrowind, mass effect, wow take your pick)
2- Cloaks/capes there is still hope for these but I'm not holding my breath (games with capes/cloaks are AC, wow, 2 worlds take your pick)
3- No crossbows (again perhaps time limits, games with cross bows... every other fantasy game ever made, like wow, warcraft, diablo, Morrwoind, heroes, Hexen....etc etc)

all the above is understandable BUT....

4- AND THIS PISSED ME OFF TO NO END you can't see your legs in 1st person....now I was sure this was no brainer since we are in 2011 and many more lesser and older games did this (dark messiah, thief 3 to name a few) but it seems we have to be a floating ball with hands AGAIN

modders i ask you humbly, can you mod this ???!! can you add this feature to skyrim??!! cause this is a BIG deal for me and many other gamers I'm sure.

just tell me its possible. :sadvaultboy:

1. Depends on if every race shares the same body mesh. If not, easy. If they do, not gonna happen unless someone does something clever.
2. Will happen pretty fast, but they'll look wrong without cloth physics. Happened in OB.
3. Was done in OB, don't see why not.
4. idk, could be done, but a lot of things could be done, it depends on if someone wants it enough to make it.

I would love if modders figured out how to make physiqued capes. I missed that in Oblivion.

And it looks like the new Havoc animation system supports cloth simulation, so it's actually possible.

Legs in 1st person? Very few games has this. I actually think it's annoying.

I really don't see why people react so much to the lack of feet in first person. I mean seriously it results in two things 1. You see a pair of boots when you look down. 2. It becomes slightly harder to look for stuff on the floor. Personally any form of handicap when looting dungeons is not worth the smallest piece of immersion possible. Also when you say games having feet in first person is a norm I'm certain you mean is a norm in FPS's where you don't have to scrounge around on the floor for the magical sword that warlord just dropped.
