At the time of development it was all cutting edge stuff, however due to the many delays we were soon being overtaken by others with better graphical tech like Valve and their Half Life 2 engine, Doom 3 , Stalker Oblivion etc. We tried to make up for lack of tech through the artistry, but there is a segment of the gaming comunity who want their games to all have the latest bells and whistles, and it is very hard to keep them happy as the production cost soon skyrockets, and the tech is developing exponentially. At the time of release we were already starting to age, but by now it is almost retro. Anyone who works in a technology driven industry faces essentially the same problem, how to finish something with decent quality before it is redundant, we rather took our time and released when done, but even so at the end when it was time to do the PC port the company had gone bankrupt and two lone-wolves finished it off their own backs, which is also why that version had so many bugs, since we could not afford the time and resources to do more QA work on it, it was simply a choice of release it with 'C' bugs, meaning you could play through the game without progression stoppers, but have some issues which we ideally would have liked to solve. Now a decent amount of time has passed, the fact that people still show an interest in the game is encouraging since it probably means that the content resonates with people inspite of its technical flaws. But I can't help but wonder how the game would've looked if we could do it from scratch with todays much more powerful console powers, if we could it would still have the same resonance.
