Please, no auto-aim that requires modding to remove.

FO3 had it. FO:NV had it. Skyrim had it. It's so annoying. How hard can it be to make it an option?

I also hope there is no magnetized aiming. It gets pretty annoying at times. Especially the Fallout 3 version where my bullets magically curve to the targets centre of mass. Trying to shoot someone's arm when they were mostly behind cover was a real chore.

Auto aiming? I've never noticed it. Do you mean VATS?

Yea that's what I meant by auto-aim. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Never realized it even existed personally. I've never noticed it when playing. How does it work?

I think it was more the way they coded how the weapon skills affected spread that made it feel like bullets hit center mass, then any actual auto aim.

Nope I had to get a mod to stop it on PC.

If your shots are in a certain vicinity to the target the bullets seem to magnetize towards your targets centre of mass (chest). Because of this of your target is around a wall but their arm is visible you'll be very unlikely to hit their arm without the use of V.A.T.S because all your shots will curve and hit the wall because they're trying to hit the targets chest. It doesn't seem to happen all the time. Just a lot of the time which makes it annoying.

Hated it in Skyrim. It was most evident when in a draugr ruin and I would be trying to use a firebolt to ignite the oil on the floor under the draugr to set them ablaze, but the bolts kept auto-correcting to hit the draugr themselves.

I know Fallout 3 was iffy with the aim, but I never noticed it in New Vegas especially when I depended on iron sights and scoped weapons. Skyrim is a different game where since I couldn't get head shots I really never cared to notice.

Put me in the "never noticed it" camp.

(the odd targeting at longer range, where you need to aim at the base of the neck to snipe a head, on the other hand.....)

FO:NV has an even more annoying problem: many rifles (hunting rifle, all lever-action rifles, etc.) have misaligned ironsights. Also needed to get a mod to fix that. This one is very easy to verify: look down the sights, then go into third person and back again. The crosshair will then be superimposed over the ironsight. You'll notice that with the affected weapons, the crosshair will not be aligned with the front post. Once that was fixed I could snipe geckos waaaay off in the distance with a varmint rifle fresh out of Doc Mitchel's house.

I never use VATS so I notice these things very quickly.

It was especially annoying in F3 because it messed up my long range shots....

I don't have any idea what you talking about, unless you mean VATS, and if you don't want to use VATS then, uh, just don't use VATS.

I've had it happen. It's built in aim-assist. Not VATS not a console specific thing, something in all versions. Most don't notice it because normally it helps you but sometimes it gets confused.

Surprised no one has noticed the bullets veering at an odd angle. Guess it could be blamed on guns being skill based though since it makes them behave weird

Nope. I've played on PC for years and never saw any "auto-aiming" and certainly not in the way you are describing. Nor has there been any such complaints from PC players. You have something else going on.

Besides, auto-aim is pretty much exclusive to consoles anyway due to the need to assist crappy controller focus in fast-paced combat.

Shots WILL hit the wall (or other obstacles such as land/hilltop) if the target is moving in VATS and they happen to cross into that line of fire. THAT was annoying, yes, and it's why BGS has added the ability to cancel out of VATS to FO4. However, I have never, ever had bullets (or energy beams, most often, since I vastly prefer energy weapons and tech) curve on me while targeting an enemy body part and they are behind cover.

I've never noticed it happen with energy weapons. It actually took me a couple years to even notice it was happening. I initially thought it was a mod causing it so I reinstalled and started a new game unmodded and BAM still had magnitozing shots sometimes.

Neither of the games has good ("snappy") enough gun-play to have Aim-Assist really noticeable or even that annoying. Fallout 4 seems that the gun-play is vastly improved so I do hope that Aim-Assist is toggle-able. At least on the PC-side.
