Please Bethesda, add a non fast travel mode for Skyrim

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:09 am

Hi there,

I would like to ask for a harder, heavier time sinking, more "realistic" optional mode for Skyrim: The top thing that characterizes this "realistc" gameplay mode would be the fast travel ability/utility to be disabled. The need of food, rest and water for our main character like it was needed in Fallout New Vegas would be more than awesome too.

I don't want to rely on modders for this. I prefer Bethesda devs do it and implement it their own way, which is the one I like and the only reason I buy videogames with the Bethesda logo on it.

I just hope someone at Bethesda could consider this request.

Best regards.

You're late in the party.

It has been confirmed that there are going to be carriages to travel from city to city.

Well the title is a bit misleading.

A hardcoe mode that adds for survival aspects and that completely and utterly removes any fast travel a la Oblivion feature in the game, while keeping carriages? I'd say yes.

But if a hardcoe mode is implemented, each of the sub-factors should be optional. Some may want to sleep, while others don't. Some may also want to use fast travel a la Oblivion, but still wants to sleep/eat/drink.

There's a carriage system now. No details on how it works yet though.

Harder way to travel? It's called walking. You could just not use the fast-travel, why do people wish there was a shut fast-travel off option when you can just not use it. As for survival/hardcoe mode, it was in FNV so there's a decent chance it will be in Skyrim. Welcome to the forum.

You heard about carriages right? I would like to avoid your aforementioned system at all costs as it were, for I would like to at least try to play another game in in 2012.

No. I'd like to use a 'hardcoe mode' AND still have the use of fast travel when I really can't be arsed trecking to five towns to look for an ingredient or something. A carriage system has been implemented into Skyrim, why do people feel the need to have fast travel completely removed? Its one of the few valid cases for a 'don't like it, don't use it' argument.

I feel like GTA 4 had an awesome thing going with the taxi rides. Red Dead would be runner up in 'best travel system.'
I don't know how it would work to translate the GTA4 system into a fantasy setting though.

The journey beats the destination. I agree in that fast travel ruins the experience if you abuse it. In fact, I don't use it at all, and if it were up to me it wouldn't be in the game at all. But if you're simply asking them to add a non-fast travel mode... why not just refrain from using it?

Another "request" by people on this forum for implementation of a "feature" that is utterly pointless. You don't want fast travel? Well, don't use it. Walk everywhere. Problem solved.

Carriages is the best compromise that people will probably get unless Beth has something else up there sleeve.

What? Why?

Why would you take a fast travel system out of a game that thousands of people use? Because YOU don't use it? Why wouldn't you leave it in the game and just continue not using it?
