please bring back the dwarves!

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 10:43 am

More than anything, I wish that Beth had never referred to the Dwemer as "dwarves." Would've shut all this nonsense down before it even started.....

Gimli is not going to be in TES. Deal with it.

But Gimli WAS in TES.

When the name Morrowind was invented in TES: Arena, references were made to dwarves, and those dwarves were indeed short Irish alcoholic straight from D&D.

But they fixed that good.

Next: Most likely they were just exterminated by the Chimer/Dunmer. The "dissapeared" stories are most likely just "awe" for their technological superiority, combined with the distrust/downlooking of the Dunmer.

Very much incorrect. Did you actually play Morrowind?

Because you get to talk to three people that were there, including a Dwemer who witnesses his people's disappearance. You also see piles of ash where the Dwemer simultaneously burned up in their homes.

Also, we see a divine thousand-foot-tall robot who breaks time itself and conquers a continent. And the heart of a dead god powering four other godly figures.

And yet you somehow have a hard time believing that somewhere along the line, some people used magic to inadvertently (or partially inadvertently) wipe themselves out? Since I assume that pointing out the complete lack of evidence is insufficient persuasion, think on that.

I know that in the Elder Scrolls series the Dwarves' race was completely wiped out ages ago but in a world FULL OF MAGIC I'm pretty sure Bethesda could create a logical way to bring them back cause I would love to play as a dwarf or at least see some Dwarven NPCs walking around. I dont know what all armor is in the 5th game obviously but I'm sure it'll be variants of the 4th games which makes me wonder: what's the point of dwarven armor if you can't play as a dwarf, see a dwarf, can't even go to a dwarven ruin or something, etc. I love the series i find nothing wrong with it Im just wanting to see the inclusion of a badass race in some gameplay. If they dont incorporate dwarves into gameplay, it would be fine ^_^ ...but if they did, it'd be [censored] AWESOME!!!!

No.

Story Idea for DLC Expansion - Return of the Dwarves

No.

It would definitely be a cool addition

They'd surely have:

- strong stamina and health
- very little Magic ability
- excellent axe wielding ability

Sounds cool!

No.

Not if their return is just as grand.

No.

Maybe they're brought back as the tools of Alduin to destory the other Mer and Humans!!!

No.

Dragons returning to Tamriel = ES V, obviously. It really isn't too far-fetched that a later title could involve the return of the Dwarves. Albeit very unlikely, I don't think you can rule it out.

No.

I am with you man!
i ask that question too.
the dwarfs are epic race like "orcs" elves"

Betheshda must consider put that race inside in the future.

No.

Noooo we dont need damm dwemer we need REAL dwaRVES. small Bearded, Axe weilding,DWARVES!

No.

I can't help but feel people refering to the Dwemer as Dwarves are ignorant, even in TES referring to them as dwarves is ignorant. some of you folk really have no idea how terrifyingly powerful and DIFFERENT these guys were in th TES universe

Perhaps that's what Elder Scrolls 6 will be. Either the Return of the Dwarves, set after Skyrim, or Fall of the Dwarves, set long before.

The fall of the Dwemer would be slightly boring though, as we already know what happens.
And they cannot return, because Kagrenac erased them from Tamriel when he used their souls to make the golden skin of Numidium.

I think it is best to keep them as they are.
An strange, powerful and extinct race is in my opinion far more interesting and mysterious than direct contact with them can ever be.

Dwarves are one of my favourite aspects of the entire fantasy genre. I'd love to see them in TES. :)

Why some people want every single fantasy game to have the same lore is beyond me.

I love dwarves in the lord of the rings and in the warhammer universe, but they just don't exist in ES, and that's fine, because it makes ES lore unique!

Would you like Argonians and Khajiit in the lord of the rings universe? Nope! Then stop asking for dwarves in ES!

Exactly :)

The dwemer have been confirmed by word of god that they are the mother [censored] Numidium, the giant robot golem thing that regularly kicks Akatosh in the balls, and is at all points in time. Bringing them back would be the lamest thing ever. Any return of the dwemer would mean the Numidium is knocking at your door, ready to kick your ass for daring to think such thoughts.

Also, they were as tall as the Imperials, and http://images.uesp.net/d/d6/Dwarven_Spectre.jpg http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/1/13830/794102-dwemer_z_statue4_large.jpg http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/tdgtd_dwemer_image_01.jpg with long ears than anything

They should re-introduce the Dwarves in TES 6: Arcanum

Let the conflict between magic and technology commence!

it would be so so epic if they bring back the dwarves and I know alot of people don't want them cuz they told me before but I think it would totally rock and they could come back at the end to help you beat the last boss like the dragon in Oblivion. :mohawk:

Want the return of the Dwarves? Play as a Mer, and stand next to a Giant. Sounds flippant, but that's about the truth of it.

I think bringing them back would somehow diminish the 'grand' scale of what happened to them. Its far more dramatic that whatever happened to them was complete and very final.

I agree... And we'll still have Dwemer artifacts and ruins, either way :foodndrink:...

there is no good way for them to make a return. the lore is that they commited a race wide self genocide, having them return would be just like when a cheap action show shows the protagonist getting exploded in a car and then suddenly they show up completly unharmed.

yeah but there's magic so they can do that or something else like they come back with the dragons to stop them cuz they should be good guys. There really good writers so they can think of a totally epic way to bring them back. :mohawk:

Also, the dwemer hated Mundus; thought it was a prison like most other mer. Having Alduin eat the world would be not ideal (that's the Numidium), but better (still out of the prison, but not during the first strokes of Padomay and Anu) than residing on Mundus (Nirn).

Get your lore with the dwemer correct, people. And it wouldn't be rule of cool, it would be complete and total ass pull. Not even MK, the guy who pretty much made TES lore and makes the best damn stories in this game, could make their coming back good.

its not good writting to simply use magic to explain away a conflict with the stories own previous history. thats why its lame when good guys in action movies get killed but turn out to be completly fine, it removes all meaning of having the dwemer die off to begin with.

they'd be better off creating new lore that stands on well polished creativity than simply negating previous lore.

EDIT: @Biper: yes.

And not just magic, one would have to have achieved godhood around that of CHIM or higher to bring the dwemer back. Whether they succeeded in reaching the first stroke of Padomay and Anu or not, it is known that the Numidium, the golem all dwemer bound themselves too (save for one, who is now 80% Divine Disease) is appearing at all events in time. Hell, the altmer of Summerset are trying to fight it in the past, present, and future, as it is continually assaulting Summerset Ilse. Fact of the matter is, Word of God (devs) have said, since the old forums, the dwemer are now the Numidium. Bringing back the dwemer would mean the Numidium would return to wreck more [censored] than what happened in Daggerfall, and what Tiber Septim did.

Also, again, the dwemer, like most mer, want to leave Mundus (the mortal univserse) for good, as they see it as a prison. The only difference between the dwemer and most other, is that they do not view the complete and total destruction of Mundus as being necessary. The Numidium already kicks the god of time's balls daily, which is why it's able to shoot time the bird, appear at all points of time, and create paradoxes freely.

isn't dwemer ruins confirmed?
Yes, but there were also lots of dwemer ruins all over Morrowind too.

Well in one of the scenes in the trailer the character looked as if he was sneaking around in a Dwemer ruin, judging by the machinery and pipes that were visible.

Just because there are dwemer ruins, doesn't mean the dwemer are coming back. If this was the case, the dwemer would have reemerged in TES III: Morrowind.
