please bring back the dwarves!

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:54 pm

I know that in the Elder Scrolls series the Dwarves' race was completely wiped out ages ago but in a world FULL OF MAGIC I'm pretty sure Bethesda could create a logical way to bring them back cause I would love to play as a dwarf or at least see some Dwarven NPCs walking around. I dont know what all armor is in the 5th game obviously but I'm sure it'll be variants of the 4th games which makes me wonder: what's the point of dwarven armor if you can't play as a dwarf, see a dwarf, can't even go to a dwarven ruin or something, etc. I love the series i find nothing wrong with it Im just wanting to see the inclusion of a badass race in some gameplay. If they dont incorporate dwarves into gameplay, it would be fine ^_^ ...but if they did, it'd be [censored] AWESOME!!!!

I don't think 'wiped out' is correct, more like 'missing'

Mostly they looked like altmer with ancient-persian-styled beards, so just play an altmer and pretend you shaved your beard off to blend in.

It would definitely be a cool addition

They'd surely have:

- strong stamina and health
- very little Magic ability
- excellent axe wielding ability

Sounds cool!

I think bringing them back would somehow diminish the 'grand' scale of what happened to them. Its far more dramatic that whatever happened to them was complete and very final.

Not if their return is just as grand.

Maybe they're brought back as the tools of Alduin to destory the other Mer and Humans!!!

Dude i brought this up a couple months ago....prepare for the flame war. Especially calling them Dwarves, I'm guessing that's a huge no no cause i got ripped to shreds they aren't called dwarves in TES they are called Dwemer....may wanna change the title LOL

Sounds to me like OP wants a non-TES dwarven race to be implemented, which is fine, but that would make my "one size fits all"-headache even bigger.

That said, I'd love to see more dwarven ruins. I really enjoyed exploring them in Morrowind. :)

Edit: The race is called Dwemer but they're also known as dwarves. They're quite different from lotro("traditional") dwarves, though.

The Dwemer are gone. They left on purpose. They intentionally removed themselves from existence. How does one come back from that? Even Vivec had no sense of their presence.

I guess I just like the thought better that their entire race suddenly became "fuel" for Lorkhan's heart or that Kagrenac might have accidentally killed them all by fiddling around with the heart of a god. Just imagine how embarrassing it must have been for that split second when he realized that he might have said, "We would gladly make the sacrifice" instead of "I would gladly make the sacrifice". Or something to that effect :)

Fortunately for you, there's at least one Dwarven ruin I know of. Markarth Side, a city in Skyrim, is actually a former Dwemer city.

They are gone (unmade, disappeared, wiped out, etc.) from existence. Could Bethesda say "oops, no they aren't" and bring them back? Yes, they could. They could also introduce lightsabers and bunny women, but neither they nor the return of the Dwemer would jive with previously established lore.

You realize that the Dwemer aren't actual Dwarves, they are an ancient race of mer, which are elves.

The Dwarves are elves. They probally are the opposite of that.

Good Crafters (smithing, enchanting)
Above average magic ability
Weak constitution

As for the Dwemer armor, i think its cool how they left some of the tech behind, if they did return, the armor wouldn't be as cool to me.
