Please bring Chat Bubbles!

Post » Thu Mar 20, 2014 12:10 am

Please let us have this option to enable it or not, I think lots of people would like it.

It really adds to an mmo experience, seeing the chat/text on the screen and not in the corner really makes it different. You relate with the situation and your character.

What do the others think?

Seeing as this is not currently possible with the addon API, yes they absolutely need to give us options for speech bubbles.

Yes, this is one thing that I find absolutely lacking and needs to be implemented. Would also help greatly in Pvp, the current chat window is clunk and actually breaks immersion. Pretty please!

Chat bubbles are too much like a cartoon/comic strip for me. I say no. That would definitely break immersion.

To each his own I guess...

I want those cartoony textballoons as they had in SWG or POTBS. They looked great. But the example above is good too.

But of course:

- They should be optional

- enemy faction chat should not be seen in a textballoon

I would really like them because i don't like constantly reading the chat window instead of focusing on the gamescreen. Also i miss most of the chat this way because i play the game.

Yeah that pic looks awesome, I would absolutely agree with it. PLEASE IMPLEMENT CHAT BUBBLES! This game needs it seriously, how can we get this to the devs lol.

I mean that pic looks amazing.

While a hovering box of text might seem immersion breaking to some, I feel quite the opposite. Communicating with other players here seems rather disjointed; I have to keep browsing through a box in the bottom left hand side of my screen to find who said what and when; instead of being able to shut that out completely and look directly at the person I'm talking to.

Still, it should be an optional feature; not mandatory.

Then don't enable it. But don't come here shouting down an interface option just because you wouldn't use it.

The OP opened it up for discussion by posting. Don't go shouting down someone who has a different opinion than you on a public forum. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth of those who read you comment and see it for what it is...

He gave his opinion, and I gave mine. Let it be...

+1 for this.

So hard to see /say in real time - and will be even harder with so much WTS and bug spam in /zone come launch.

PLEASE implement this.

Yay chat bubbles! Much needed in my opinion, and also optional thus harmless. I felt a little disconnected to others without bubbles, chat is too hard to read and realize who is who in due time. Lack of nameplates above heads made it even more difficult.

Im fine with them, if theres an option to hide them. But really, I would prefer the devs to focus on fixing bugs before release.

Chat bubbles and nameplates are too cartoonish imo. If they add it, then they should be a toggle option.

Chat bubble option is definitely something i would like. I rarely pay attention to the chat box in games, so it's much easier to talk with someone nearby, when i can just see it above them.

I actually really like the lack of chat bubbles and nameplates. Though I understand some people's need for it, so I'd vote "yes" for OPTIONAL chat-bubbles (but I think those should be only for /say chat).
But no nameplates please. Not even optional.

yes please bring in chat bubbles, they would be so useful to so many people.
Healing and you cant find the person, they can shout for a heal, just aim at that chat bubble!
Helps in PvE - Some one is talking to you and you cant see them, look for the chat bubble
Helps in PvP - ~"Hey all they are over here" who said that? Look for the chat bubble
The above are a few examples but please bring it in with options to toggle off for those that will never require it

lol @ breaks immersion. how immersive is it to look at a chat box to begin with? use teamspeak.

I'm sure we'll see them, they weren't in WoW in the beginning either.

My first reaction was "no thanks". Then I looked at the picture. That's actually done well, and blends with the game interface. Then I considered the points made about the chat box. I think this could add something to the game if done right.

I think it would be a good option so long as it was something that can be turned off/on as preferred by the player. I think it should not look cartoony, but rather appear similar to the example so that blends with the games UI styling. Perhaps even having it's styling be configurable.

Personally I dislike chat bubbles and would always turn them off given the option. However, I agree with everything Vertigo says about the example shown.
