PLEASE ! change the design of dragons

What, no mention of Draco? http://www.fantascienza.net/leonardo/le/evocata_Draco_Dragonheart1.jpg http://movie-shop.us/pictures/Dragonheart.jpg

As far as the wings go I have to agree with the OP. Dragons are not realistic, sure, but unless you put them in a comic styled environment they should be believeable and large wings belong to a large critter.
I'm a bit miffed that the TES dragons only have 4 limbs. That makes them nothing more than flying lizards in my mind. 6 limbed dragons on the other hand have something otherworldly about them and yes, they can be made in a believable way.

I've never heard of a dragon with 6 limbs in mythology. I only know four or two limbed dragons.
Are they mentioned somewhere? If so, can you pls tell me where, since I'm interested how such a dragon would look like.
Or do I understand '6 limbs' wrong?

limbs = legs + wings

Some of the most badass and largest dragon I have seen has two pairs of wings.

I agree only about the idea the wings should be increased, it gives the dragons a much more menacing and giant look when flying especially if it flies over head and casts a gigantic shadow.

Would not look nearly as large or scary if the wings were smaller. Other then that I really like what the dragons look like thus far. I also think the idea of the huge wings really give the dragon a quality of power. If you see two dragons that are both the same size, but one with only half the wing size, not only does the one with the larger wing size look bigger but it also implies that it is a heavier animal.

Edit: I still think Reign of Fire has the best dragon designs in any media to date.

Seriously, look at the scan side to side with the picture I posted. The one from the scan doesn't looks as animalistic, powerful or scary as the one I just posted. A large reason of this is because of the absolutely massive wingspan which gives elegance but not in a sissy way, but rather in a way that shows this thing could actually fly. But then it may be issues with design limiting the graphical display of the dragons, for example in town the large wings may cause major clipping issues.

What I do love about the Skyrim dragons so far is the spiked scales protruding from their body, looks awesome.

To the people saying that it is strange the dragon only has hindlimbs, you are most likely wrong. The wings seem to be the dragons forelimbs on which it walks as a membrane developed across their arm to accomodate flight.

I have to agree with you that they do look fatty and short winged. The other dragon pictures you supplied us with should be the look. If Bethesda do not change it(which i doubt they will) you or someone else could just change the model in blender or 3ds max ?

I like the TES dragons but I also like the ones the OP posted. They're just a different style. Its very unlikely that the devs can change anything regarding the dragons at this point but neither would I want them to. We finally have dragons in TES for goshsakes! lets just relish the thought of battling this magnificent beasts rather than nitpick their design.

If it helps you suspend disbelief there was quite a good theory I read once that if Dragons were real they might have natural gas bladders in them that provide lift and their stubby wigs are used more for thrust and steering rather than providing actual lift like birds have. The gas in these bladders also provide the fuel for their fiery breath. That can explain the stubby nature of the wings.

For all we know Beth started with a larger wingspan and was forced to reduce it.

@ OP:
I prefer the skyrim dragon's any day of the week to your choices.
The darker looking dragon in your list looks like a giant bat.....no thanks!
I think bethesda's look/take on them is better...and that won't change either.
Just my view :)

I have to agree -- it would be much more believable to have larger wings on those dragons, but in every other aspect they're awesome. I love the beastly look they have, but I fear that it's gonna feel unnatural when they're in the air.... We know for sure that Bethesda has spent a lot of time on these dragons to make them look and sound realistic (believable) in the context of Skyrim, though, so I'm sure they're not gonna look too quirky, even though their wings look small in the shots we've seen so far.

as long as they don't have the wing span of a dragonite I'll be fine with it, bit subject to say either way with a fantasy creature, to be honest you may consider them, as said above magic boned, able to summon wind to fly on.

Please change the design on the Dragons, who have already seen in the screenshots that run on the network make me think badly.
They do not seem wyverns dragons but have heavy limbs and stocky and short, stubby wings, and if your intention is to create breathtaking creatures, you should make with enormous wings (because more realistic) the beauty and majesty of a dragon not be judged by the size of fat body and muscular, but his wingspan is not wide-eyed leaving his quadricipidi.
Please Carofano Matthew least change the design of the wings, Akatosh in Oblivion looked like a cocatrix or a big rooster(in every sense :whistling:) you and your staff have an incredible creativity and a way of drawing lofty but please as skyrim is focusing on the dragons do not fulfill them as I see here

snip
but this is the idea that I have of dragons.

And I will stop here
I chose not to be those in the photos because the design seems more consistent with the TES logo
If you believe that I am raving do a survey and maybe you feel like-minded others

PS.
The staff of Skyrim Board to review the film Dragonslayer (1981) could be an inspiration.
Always consider the anatomy of the existing creture and return it to the screen, is a formula that always wins;)
Matthew I believe in you.
Sorry for my english.

Um no BGS leave the dragons as they are thanks...we know you`ve spent 2 years working on them and don`t expect you to do a major overhaul on them because a poster doesn`t like them..

They look fine for gods sake, just because they don`t fit your image...jeez. Make your own game and be happy with that or otherwise let BGS get on with the great work and they can release it on time.

heres my opinion if they want to implement a demon unicorn who cards sulfur fire and causes craters where he runs
then they can
they designed the dragon based on there lore, there research
they could be chinese dragons and i would be cool with them
and im still terrified to face one

The dragons of Skyrim are pretty much the same as the statue of Akatosh in the talos square district of the imperial city. It would be lore breaking to change them into another form.

I wonder if this conversation took place when Martin Septim took the form of the dragon at the end of that game's main quest.
