Please, crytek, use photographs for plant textures

Post » Tue Dec 04, 2012 6:50 am

Yes, I've seen the gameplay trailer, and I understand no one will want to change the textures now that the game is built this far and photographic textures are more expensive I guess... But modders have a very hard time making them, because for one thing, they are never flat. Come on, at least consider it. :/

That's the way it usually works for plants.
I'm not surprised if 99% of games do it. I know Crysis does, and see no reason why Crysis 2 didn't.

I believe you're talking about the grass models, not the textures. Being "flat" as you described it is the model, not the texture. Alls I can tell you is Crysis 3 has the best looking grass we've done, period :)

Oh Cry-Adam, I'm gonna be so, SO pissed if it doesn't look better than Crysis (the first) vegetation.

Oh Cry-Adam, good of you to show some activity, yet why is it that we were kept on hold for 6 months with the story: 'i don't know about this yet, i'll let you know when we do?'

I am frustrated by this fact, and i certainly hope you won't pull off the same thing with the next game. I don't recommend a game if the support doesn't give the gamers what they pay for.

you forget to mention that it will have the best looking grass on a 7 year old console. You act like crysis 2 on pc was something to be proud of? Where you around when crysis 1 was made on pc and if so, what the hell went wrong after that?? Did you fire like the whole dev team and hired people who only know how to work with a 360 dev-kit? It was EA wasn't it, those damn commercial fellows sure know how to draw up a good stategy.....money in the bank right?
No seriously! Enlighten me!

*Looks at the career requiments in the Crytek site*
Minimum of 1 shipped AAA title on next gen consoles (PS3, Xbox 360).
Yep, though some developers might even know how to work with PS3 dev-kit!

Seriously though, Crytek has had problems with treating their employees, causing people getting fired or leaving their jobs by themselves.

why? I already played crysis2 for a bitt and that already answers my question. It was a retorical question btw, because Crytek clearly only know how the 360 devkit works. A 360 build game that they alter with dx11 options.

WHY NOT PORT THE PC VERSION TO THE USELESS CONSOLES!! Instead of the other way around.

no, but at that time Crytek didnt make console games. Please keep up or get your facts straight b4 your reply ;)

If you read again, you will read that I am only talking about part 2 and part 3 when it comes to the 360 devkit remark i made....carry on!

But that means they still know how to make games for PC... Crysis was made in 2007. One does not simply forget how to make a PC game.
