Please delay game if necessary

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:49 pm

Some countries use day-month-year format which makes more sense imo.

Not on 11/11/11 it doesn't! It's the future regardless of how you put it.

Since they've been working on it since 2007 that we know of, right after SI kicked out the door, I'm fairly confident they'll meet the release date and we won't be overly disappointed. Yes, past history suggests a patch or two will come. Past history also suggests one of those patches will resolve whatever is wrong. I think the fiasco with FO3's 7 patches that didn't fix all the problems it had was a fluke.

As far as unofficial patches, yes, there will likely be one. There's always someone out there who's nitpicky enough to not like seeing a rock floating over the ground here and there. I just hope if one does end up being made that coordinating actually putting it together doesn't turn into the disaster I noticed the one for F:NV did when the guy who tried to coordinate it got shot down in the process of trying.

Having had nearly 5 years to develop Skyrim it should be just about perfect, shouldn't it

This. I am sure they started tossing up ideas about Skyrim as soon as Oblivion was released. Todd is very particular about the quality of his games. He really cares about what his fans want. Just watch some of the interviews at gameinformer. I think a lot of developers could learn a thing or two from that man.

If skyrim got delayed by a year I'd get down into a corner and stay like that for quite some time...that and possible crying. I'd play a buggy game over waiting a year definitely

We should make this a petition. I agree, I would prefer quality over meeting that 11.11.11 release date. But you need to remember that having a dozen testers spend a month checking the game for bugs is no substitute for a million gamers playing for 1 week straight, it is an unfortunate inevitability that there will be bugs in the finished product that will need to be patched.

Of course the release of the game should be delayed if it becomes necessary. I don't like how some developers are forced to release their games too early.

I waited for Oblivion on this forum at least as eager as I wait Skyrim now. Oblivion was delayed, and I survived! :hehe: Take your time, Beth.

Think of it this way, you'll have more balls to defeat Alduin after you come back. :D

Seriously though, in your case a delay would svck. I was in military before Oblivion's release.

Recently the game industry has found it acceptable to release beta versions of software as Release Candidates. Crysis 2 PC especially has had horrible technical faults on launch, I still can't even play multiplayer. Then there is Shogun 2, CoD:BO,

Now I have a lot more faith in ZeniMax and Bethusda than other game developers currently. My top 3 favourites are Bungie, Bethusda and Bioware. I'd really appreciate it if you guys stayed up among the top development / publishing studios. I'm even hoping ZeniMax's recent expansions will rub off there good quality on others.

Please don't break my heart. I love you guys so much and have been wounded too many times this year by studios betraying their fans.

If necessary, delaying the game makes me feel appreciative you are taking the time to polish things off.
Even if it was a whole extra year I would smile... I'd even buy two copies and give one away to a friend.

So please, please, please make Quality Assurance a bigger priority than normal. I love you... <3

Your loving fan,
Greg

I agree with you even bio let out a real s-bomb with dragon age 2 it was good but felt rushed I don't want elder scrolls 5 skyrim to feel half assed i hade ton of fun with elder scrolls 5 and i still play it form time to time

Thaught I should point out to the OP it is Bethesda not Bethusda, thaught it might have been a typo but then you repeated it!

If you don't know their name then you probably don't know Bethesda would not do this, while they do release patches to fix certain bugs their games a normally pretty good at release they are not a lazy developer! Although some who couldn't get their games to run might disagree :)

No need to delay the game they have already been working on Skyrim since before Oblivion was released, November should be plenty of time to fine tune the game!

:sigh:

This kind of talk needs to be stopped before it even starts.

Prove it. Prove that this is the case. I want to see incontrovertible proof that the games you mentioned were released as beta versions. If you can't prove it, then please stop the madness.

I believe he refers to MvC3 (Marvel vs Capcom 3) Which was released with fairly cheap and short content besides the multiplayer.

Still this is bethesda we're talking about, hell, they don't make video games, they make art, and art has no beta stages.

I personally won't mind if they delay for another month near the end of the year but by October the game would have been completed and plenty of bug testing already done. This is Bethesda's baby and I very much doubt especially with the sheer amount of development time they have had and the memorable release date that they will delay the game. A game mind you that will be relatively speaking contain few bugs by the standards of other companys releasing buggy games (New Vegas {a good game mind you}, and Dragon Age 2). Not to mention the masssive amount of bad PR should they delay it.

Yes, rather delay the game to make it better, than deliver a product in time that is worse.

They wouldn't have announced a date so early if they weren't sure about it, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah. The chance of it getting delayed is very small. Todd feels confident :P
But I'm saing that... IF it for some strange reason (like a big mistake they've totally missed before during bug-testing), then it's better if it's delayed than not. I haven't played Fallout NV, but it seems a lot of people are disappointed over the many bad bugs.

I believe bethesda will do everything they can as regards game quality and bugs. If a game as a few bugs then fine, there is bound to be one or two bugs or glitches somewhere.
BUT....there are lot of games rushed out now,and while that gets companies money quicker, eventually it will backfire. People will notice a trend with certain companies, and their reputations will slowly fall. We have to wait years for an elder scrolls game, and i don't mind that at all. They obviously care about the series, and money too. They need that money for many different reasons. I'm glad bethesda doesn't pump elder scrolls games out every year. To me games that are made yearly are dropping in standards "big time". Some companies bang on about new changes in a game, making it sound like they overhauled it,no,just no!. Alot of games that are made every year are copy pasted to the next game with a few new tweaks ideas. If people are willing to accept this, they are going to keep doing it. Standards are dropping, and it's time to trim the heard!.

Alot of us buy these games regardless, and we shouldn't....enough is enough! I mentioned in another post about there being a gaming watchdog in the UK,because games standards are dropping. Call of duty MW2 and Fifa 11 were a big reason this came about, aswell as other games too. The first fable, great game. Took them years to make it,and it showed. The other fables in my opinion aren't as good, and it looks like we'll have them every year now, which means most things will be copy/pasted over with one or two new ideas,it's lazy, and shows only the money and not the fans/gamers/quality is important.I can accept little bugs or a few bugs, but when a game is riddled with them,or the bugs really effect your gaming experience and fun, then thats not acceptable...at all! To me it seems they are trying to cram as many games as possible out on this gen, before the next gen comes. It's now down to us a gamers not to accept such crap when it comes out. To often we accept this just for the sake of playing on line with friends etc,and so we don't miss out. I did'nt buy MW2 and i won't be buying other Call of duties either, same as fifa, and probably fable.

I could say alot more on this,in greater detail, but i won't bother. But standards are dropping, not just because of greed etc,but because most of us sit back and accept it,lets do something about it.

Note: This is not a go at bethesda,i'm talking about other companies.

OH DEAR GOD NO.

I can't wait for this game any longer than they have already announced, I mean, I'm acting worse than Cartman did over the Wii, and we still got about 7 MONTHS.

Yea I feel. I'm usually skeptical about release dates but I feel good about the Skyrim 11.11.11 date.
