Way to completely miss the point. We're not worried about a few simple bugs or the game being imperfect. We're saying they should delay it if there are major game breaking problems and not stick with releasing on 11/11/11 just because it's a "cool date".

My bad. If that's your point then this thread shouldn't even exist. Good developers don't release broken games. And Bethesda is a good developer. Therefore they won't release a broken game at launch. Thus this thread whining at them to do what they're already going to do is pointless.

It might give bad press if delayed, but if the game were polished up before release, then that press would be overun with positive comments and awards for the game. PLEASE DELAY IF NECESSARY!!!!!

Maybe we should get a poll/petition saying that if neccessary, to delay the game.

Depending on where you go and what branch you can have a computer and TV and stuff. You can't in Basic Training but you can normally in AIT and if you are active duty you can have that stuff at wherever you are stationed. Hell people get 360s and PS3s sent over to Iraq all the time. I helped a woman pick out a system and some games for her son while he was overseas myself :D

Don't worry, unless you are on a ship, in a sub, or in the sky you will still have access to Skyrim. Just maybe not right away.

I agree with you that I'd rather play a finished product than one forced to be put out because of such a cool release date. But at this point I highly doubt it will be pushed back. I'm so anxious at the moment I almost don't care I just want to play!

Oblivion really didn't have many game-breaking bugs until Shivering Isles expansion, and after that GOTY edition. The PS3 vampire glitch for GOTY edition was totally unnacceptable in my opinion.... and I play on the PC.

every one says that, and they live. its better to have to wait a couple of days or however long rather than getting a game that has a bug that requires you to wait that long any ways because there is a huge bug.

they haven't been working on it this whole 5 years, they probably started 2 or 3 years ago. besides thats not the point, the point of delaying the game is not to add more stuff to the game, but to fix the bugs that ruin immersion and the fun of playing the game.

It depends what you consider working on the game. If you cosider throwing ideas out there and getting some stuff on paper of what they plan to do working on the game, they may have started before Oblivion was finished. If you cosider putting those ideas into the game world, then it might be three years ago. A few people were just working on dragons a long while before the game world, so it really kinda depends.

On topic however, I would be upset but I would also be understanding. They wouldn't delay the game just to piss us off, so they would have a good reason if they did it. I'd like to be told that reason, but even if I wasn't I would simply continue to wait.

Do people still believe the myth that in the past the customer came first? That has never been the case because the customer will always have to pay for 'service' in the end.

EDIT: I bet Duke Nukem Forever will be postponed again just to spite customers! :P

Well They probably have been working on it the entire 5 years, but in the same way they worked on Fallout 3. Some development was being done on it, but it wasn't their primary concern until after they released all the Oblivion stuff they were gonna do.

If we look at Fallout, there were probably tens or hundreds of thousands of bugs, some minor, some game breaking. I always expect quality products from Bethesda, but I always expect said product to be full of glitches. How they get there and are not seen is beyond me.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand it's statements like these that give the developers little incentive to release a finished product.

Anyway, yes, I do hope they delay the game and abandon the idea of releasing on such a gimmicky date if they don't feel the game is quite yet ready. Stop releasing unfinished games and hoping fans will put up with your scrambling to fix everything with patches and excuses.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand statements like that aren't made for every game developer. I've owned a lot of BGS games..... So when I say that I almost (<- don't know if you caught that in my post)don't care if there are bugs I am just excited to play. I am saying that with the knowledge that these guys tend to know what they are doing.

Agreed. I'm disgusted at the carelessness of developers these days. Please do good Bethesda.

Blaming the developers is not really justice.

They've had/have enough time. They will deliver on 11.11.11

Since Duke Nukem Forever has been in development Bethesda has created Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 and has much of the work done on Skyrim.

Oblivion was delayed but that's because the game had engine issues that they where working on that I think were caused by the 360 and PS3 having hardware different then what they might have expected. Fallout 3 was a solid product and released on time and I'm pretty sure the Creation Engine is pretty polished right now it's just finishing up some content and bugtesting. Of course I think Bethesda could release the game much sooner if they really wanted to but Skryim is the RPG and game many people are waiting for this year and they might as well take the extra time to make sure it's as polished and stable as they can possibly get it before launch day, of course I expect their to be a few patches after it comes out simply due to the fact that new hardware is released constantly and their will be a few issues that slip by QA since it's impossible to test out all computer systems before a game is launched.

Either way crossing my fingers that Skyrim is NOT delayed as it's my most anticipated game since Smash Brothers Brawl and Oblivion which I was fanatical about both games before launch and with good reason since I still play both games frequently.

You know for a fact they won't try to force a release on 11/11/11 even though the game may still be unfinished?

They would definitely be torn. On one hand they may have a buggy game which they know their fan base won't like (People complained about a bug on Oblivion that they didn't find, strictly because you have to play a single character for about 400 hours or something like that, some of the fanbase can be huge pricks about really minor things), and on the other hand everyone hates when a game is delayed. I have been waiting on the new Duke Nukem for about as long as it has been in development hell. I think I heard about it a year after development started. Same with Postal 3, although not as much. Every delay is kind of depressing, especially if it is a series you love and it gets delayed a lot.

if Bethesda wasn't sure they could get it out in November, I'm sure they wouldn't have said anything. BUT, if it is delayed, I won't [censored] about it. You wouldn't rush a painter to finish their masterpiece

On one hand I want it to be released on date, but on the other, I understand that if Da Vinci had been rushed to paint the Mona Lisa, it would have been FAR from the masterpiece it is known as today (and that comes from a guy who's not a fan of paintings)

Couldn't you say the same about every other developer? Nobody plans delays.

To be fair, although I say they should delay the game if necessary, I wouldn't want it to be pushed back some ridiculous length. Having to wait until Summer '12 would be torture :P

Skyrim will launch on 11.11.11 and from there it will become legendary and forever be remembered in the annals of time. Simple as that.

I expect that there will be bugs, I just hope that they catch all of the major ones.

I don't really expect a delay at this point, but so long as they are working with the programming, even if it is to only fix a minor bug, they could break something important. If they do, I hope that they will take the time to get it right as opponsed to simply removing the feature to hit the target date.

Edit. The problem is if they delay it they will have to push it back 13 months in order to hit another day with a neat date, even if it is not as good.
