No Legolas

No Gimilis

By the eights NO DRIZZITS, xxXDrizzitXxx, XxXDrizzitpenorlol!Xxx

No Inuashas

No Sephiroths

No Cloud Strifes

No Gandolphs, Frodos, Bilbos,Aragons, Arwens, take your loser arses back to Lotro.

For all that is good and right, put in some kind of trade marked name blocker to at least deter some of these goo brained leeches of society.

You can't stop that. It has already has been set in motion long time ago and will walk over you like an overweight mammoth.

The name Legolas has already been reserved during beta.

you wont just see legolas, you will see 5000 legolas thanks to the naming system. its not just that though, you are going to see far more unfriendly lore names than ones that are.

I agree with you totally but the problem is you will always get the lamers who decide to call their characters 1337n1nj4 or xXxAsasinxXx and there's pretty much nothing we can do about it except ignore them.

It's been stated by the devs that anyone on your ignore list will no longer appear on the same 'shard' of the megaserver as you, thereby meaning that you won't see them. It's pretty much the best we can do unfortunately.

i dont think its as big of a problem as people make it out to be. they should be allowed to name their characters just the same as everyone else

You think those names are bad? In the Beta, I saw players named "I own your mom", and "Big Orc nuts" to name a couple. Welcome to the "Mega" Server Roleplayers.

Yeah I saw a few like that, including one with the most offensive racial slur word in his name (obviously reported).

Even someone named legolas might be a nice guy, why not give people a chance? ;-) I suppose I have some understanding though since I tend to semi ignore anyone with a bunch of x or z in their names.

Names like that bring down the whole game, but there is nothing you can do unless the name is offensive.

Just be careful who you team up with or who's in your guild.

I wonder if John Brown will be reserved / blocked.... Was thinking of making a Nord with a beard cross factioned (pre-order bonus) to Daggerfall covenant, then starting a guild reserved for Redguard (With me being the exception).

Though, that humor might be too much for some, so probably not. That, and I don't think I could seriously play a toon called John Brown... still a funny idea though.

I remember back in others northamericans mmorpg that I couln't use brailzilians politicians names (Sarney, Collor, FHC, Lula etc). I though that was kind funny, how they even know that?

So, I believe ESO'll have the same policy, but some names are unpredictable, like Legolasssss.

Well, that is why I'm going to miss the traditional servers types, compared to this mega server- which IMO is only good if the game starts to lose popularity, and will only slow down the impact of a dying game. Other tha that, having specific RP, PVP, PVE, RP-PVP servers have always been best. As a Role-player, I don't want to be on a server with non role-players, specifically the ones who have no care of respect for role-play, and that will be a problem I think 0 I'm calling it now.

It's how life goes though - nothing can ever be perfect. If we had traditional servers for ESO , I think this would be the closest to perfect MMO I've ever played; but alas that would be too good.

They can simply add a feature that says "the name has already been taken", I can't imagine some one will search through all accounts to see if thats true or not.

Part of the Terms and conditions should be a 'sensible names' clause combined with a reporting function. I don't care too much about the Legolas's of this world. But stupid 'IROX YURMOM' crap needs stamping out. I will be adding any such player to my ignore list. Hopefully if we all did the same all the people who find this sort of thing funny can end up in their own shard amusing each other to death with their Wildean wit.

I have seen a char named "Name taken". You can't stop that. The sad truth is that this whole topic only serves to bring ideas in people's heads.

No their not, they are goo brained idiots... alas, I remember the good ol' says of my nwn server where such foolery earned your character a quick gut shanking on sight, public stoning and DM torment until they came back proper, left or were banned. I think I had a list of 50 or so names in the log in rules that had to be agreed to before entering the world. *sigh* Progress I guess. :(
