Please dont make Fallout Online like WOW

Post » Wed Aug 19, 2009 8:11 pm

Please dont make Fallout Online like WOW. Their is no skill involved in WOW an it gets pretty boring pretty fast. Please make the game so its at least a bit free aim. This is my preference and I'm sure a lot of other people preference too. Am I right ?

Welcome to the forums! And the answer is no, it will not be like WoW. I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

cant really have free aim, why? b/c of the simple fact of lag. guided aim levels the playing field for people with less than stellar gaming rigs. unless it'd be 100% guaranteed lag free you most likely wont see free aim. Image

I dont think anyone WANTS to see another WoW clone.
But that is in the developers hands and those that supply their funding and what they are trying to do here.
Are they trying to make a game like WoW that appeals to the most people or are they going to have the stones to do like Eve (for example) that made a game expecting to target a typically ignored niche and who subsequently struck it big by doing so?
Only time will tell.
For all we know this mmo wont see the light of day.
Then again it could die a slow death like DCUO as they are cutting their servers in half now that the "new" factor has worn off and the quality of the game is beginning to show.
Hopefully we can have a real world to play in with all that implies.....

i would assume they'd go the safe route since if they make it and they still dont own the license then they have to pay the "royalty" fees that were listed in the agreement when they sold the license. so the highest profitability would probably be the way they go. no matter what they do though people will still call it a WOW clone, every mmo that comes out is called a WOW clone. I think to compare any game to another is a gross simplification unless it is literally a mere mod from another. (Such as the Desert Storm Mod for BF1942 that became Battlefield) Even then I have enough faith in gamesas and Mastheads to create their own unique game. Also, it is in their best interests to diverge from it quite a bit or people would not buy. So some how between their pride/self-respect and the business angle, they won't do it.

Of course, it being an MMORPG, they're going to have similar concepts and some WoW aspects were good, some were bad. I think I'll be happy as there will be a Fallout MMORPG, its non-stop interactive Fallout! It'd be pretty hard to mess up, especially with such a picky hardcoe fan base and original developers (one of them at least, I think?) you're just bound for an acceptable level of game. Of course, if they only manage to produce a less than sufficient amount, they can always expand. This is definitly possible if they end up requiring a subscription fee which will end up turning it into a cash cow therefore lots of potential for it to expand. Also, keep in mind that the Fallout universe is vast and generally fun so expansion is always up for grabs. If you're going to grow concern, grow concern they don't manage to make it. But since they have been fairly interactive through ALPHA stages (of all stages), it'll likely be fine. Image

I assume you've never played Vanilla or BC WoW, or at least not as a high-end player. That shit wasn't easy. If you wanted to be good, you had to have faster hands and a clearer mind than Mr. Miyagi. Image

I can understand about the lag issues of free aim but i'm hoping this game will be more like red dead redemptions online or borderlands where their are only a few players in the same game at 1 time. After all it is a post apocolyptic world so having hundreds of people running around at the same time would be pretty silly.

if the servers have only a few players on it like rdr or bl then it can't be classified as an mmo b/c there's no massively multiplayer then. Image
