Dear Bethesda,
I am a big fan of your latest entry in the Fallout series and have put many extensive hours into the game. However, I recently acquired the companion perk associated with “Mccready,” and as it stands it is completely broken in terms of gameplay and overall progression. The perk, as it reads, is only supposed to provide a 20% increase to VATS head shot accuracy, but instead (as noted from various reedit pages on the issue), the perk provides a 2000% percent increase making headshots now a guarantee hit from any distance with any sort of ranged weapon. This makes any enemy encounter a breeze to deal with no matter the difficulty setting. Some say just to not use headshots in VATS or only when enemies are close, but this is not a solution. Players should not have to change how they play due to a glitch, bug, or error in coding. Those who have invested highly in the perception branch have in a way wasted their time due to this perk negating much of the value of various perks in that tree that increase accuracy. Not to mention that those who also invested in the luck and accuracy branches, which rely on VATS as well, now feel overpowered and broken because of this one perk. Even I, who has not invested much into any of these trees, feels broken with this perk. This completely breaks progression in terms of incentive value and character uniqueness, now seeing that everyone be a headshot shooting god in VATS. So for now, I cannot bring myself to continue to play this great game until this bug is addressed through an official patch, since moding is unavailable for console users that may be able to solve the issue with a quick fix. So please Bethesda, I implore you to please fix this game breaking bug so that I, in good conscious as a gamer, may return to the Commonwealth.
Thankyou,
-Fallout Player
