Please help, game continues to lock up on load

Post » Sat Nov 07, 2009 9:34 am

Alright, so somehow my game has glitched on my most recent save and every time I load it, the game will freeze after about 6 seconds and lock up.

I'm asking, can someone load this and get out of The Thorn and back in Mojave Wasteland then re-send me my gavesave?

I have uploaded my gamesave to the follow location:
http://www.jodriscoll.com/BLUS30500-SAVE-PLAYER-20.zip

Please, I know some of you don't have glitching or may not even glitch when you load up my save, I just don't want to backtrack 2 days worth of playing...

My email is ripacrombie@gmail.com, just send it back if you manage to load it and get out of The Thorn without any locking up. Thanks.

  • I have tried deleting the Fallout New Vegas content
  • I have tried deleting the DLC (GameStop Pre-Order)
  • I have tried reseting my PS3 to defaults then Re-Installing
  • I have tried playing without the patch (offline)
  • I have tried loading my save, and emptying out my inventory
  • I have tried creating a new save
  • I have tried running as far as I can get before locking up
  • I CANNOT quick travel as I am in a location
  • I CANNOT climb the ladder behind me
  • I CANNOT move more than like 5 steps in game without freezing
  • I DO NOT have a save anywhere close as the AUTO-SAVE and my actual SAVE both do the same thing
  • I DID load up an old save and access the same area and after about 10 minutes, that save also locked up

Please, if someone can at least get me out of that [censored] hole of a location, then send back the save, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am not going to bash on Bethesda, but your games are the only games I have ever had issues with on the PS3... I am hoping you can somehow help me with this...

After the game frooze, I let it sit there for about 30 minutes hoping it would eventually wake up...

No luck...

Tip: always have a backup save file. It wouldn't hurt to save twice. not as much as trying to restart the game because your recent save file got corrupted. Also, try to turn your auto-save off. since it messes up the game whenever you go back and forth in a location . Manually save your games. a few seconds/minutes wouldn't hurt.

I have been doing this, trust me. I just haven't the past 2 days because I have been using the same save file. I just don't understand, this is the only PS3 title (Fallout) I've had these issues with.

Can you at least try and load my save and let me know the outcome?

Just called the customer support and was given the following explanation:
"Fallout New Vegas has an unlimited amount of paths a player can take which is why we cannot fix every bug possible. The issue you are experiencing is a game save corruption which more than likely cannot be fixed in anyway other than reverting back to an earlier save."

I then asked well why are so many users reporting issues with Game Save corruption and Game Play defects?

He responded with, very arrogantly mind you...
"How many users on the forums are reporting this? 40? Well, Fallout New Vegas sold 4 million. Bethesda cannot satisfy everyone and if only 40 players out of 4 million are having these issues, than that's 4 out of every 100,000 roughly and that isn't "that bad". Their will always be bugs and corruption, their is just more of that in Fallout due to the amount of possibilities their are."

Now, I highly doubt their are only 40 players experiencing issues, but that was his response. Can someone just attempt to load my save and just confirm is locks up after you attempt to move anywhere. If I can just get a "Yes", then I can live with it. Otherwise, I am never going to know if it was just on my end.

Wow that person should be screamed at by a manager. The save game corruption issue is NOT something only 40 people have been experiencing. It's also not eve specific to the PS3. It happens on all platforms (most notably near vault 3 and REPCONN).

The annoying thing is that the glitch that causes saves to become corrupted does not crash the game when it happens. It persists in memory corrupting all saves made afterwards and is only noticeable when you try to load one of those saves. So basically the longer you play after the malformed data is generated, the more time you end up losing when you later try to load a save file.

Seriously though- wow. That was customer service rep was either willfully ignorant or lying. I mean the PC topic on the save corruption caused at REPCON alone is 7 pages long now.

Did that moron of a rep really say that?! Every single owner of this game isn't going to have a Bethesda Forums Account to post their issues, also I'm sure there have been plenty of calls, e-mails, and also enough forum posts that corroborate each other to prove that these are issues that NEED to be fixed. even with "unlimited" paths all major bugs can definitely be fixed, minor hiccups are to be expected in large games, but most of the issues being reported are causing major gameplay issues, some actually game-breaking. I hope that you got the name of that representative. If I were you I would call back and ask to talk to a supervisor/manager and make a complaint. That guy should be fired or at least disciplined in some way (maybe thrown into a room with a few hungry deathclaws).

The problem is prevalent enough that at least obsidian and Bethesda have said that this is their current top priority. If the idiot on the phone had just said that (it's in one of the forum stickies for the subforum I believe) instead of what they brilliantly came up with on their own, I bet you would have been at least slightly less annoyed.

My 58 hour first run has officially ended because I went to that damned vault.I left and fast traveled to Mcarren AFB and now my 3 saves are corrupt. There is no way I am starting this game again for a few months at least.I cant believe the game shipped in this condition.I am not a happy customer right now.

Is there any word on when they will fix this?
