Hi im new and i just had a few questions let me start off by sayin my names jake and i am about to purchase a dell studio xps 7100 desktop from dell.com and i was going to upgrade the processor to a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor and get a ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card with 1GB of memory. the desktop has 6GB of RAM. i was wondering if this will be enough to support and play crysis 2 and cod black ops on max or at least high settings and still get a decent frame rate and play smoothly with out any problems, please comment below and help me out! any additional info would be helpful and great, thanks.

You would be better off keeping the processor as an X4 and taking that money and upgrading the graphics card beyond a 5770. Upgrading the processor to a X6 will have 0 performance increase for gaming over a X4.

If you buy a Dell i think you can forget about upgrading the Procressor mate, Dell is know for Locking the Bios agains Upgrades like that.
Updating the Bios or changing the Buios settings is not gonna help.
Theres a simple reason why they do this, if they let you upgrade there systems wen they get a bit older with faster parts, that means they missed out on a potencial sale of a new system.
Dell is not the only one who does this, computers of the Acer group (Acer, Gateway, eMachines, Packard Bell) and Hewlett Packard also impliment this in atleast some of there systems.

don't bother with a high end gaming pc anymore, buy a x360 and that tool to plug in your mouse and keyboard.

PSU = Power Suply Unit, there usualy underpowered in retail systems wich adds to a new problem in your case if you want to upgrade your Dell... they use weird dimensions so normal powersuplies dont fit and you have to order one from Dell them selfs wich cost you 5 times more than a compairable spec normal one you just buy of the shelf.

So build your own rig, or have one asembled for you, for example from newegg or tigerdirect (sorry, others dont pop to mind so quick as im not in the USA)

Dell isnt very upgradable so youll probably just want to buy a comp thats pre-built and with the specs you want or you can build you own. By PSU he means that you want to make sure your PSU has enough wattage in order to run your PC when your gaming and enough to compensate for OC'ing and everything as well

You'll need at least a 500 watt power supply in your PC. It has nothing to do with where you plug it into :) it's the small box in your pc that you plug the power cable into!

If it's a 6 core version of the CPU you already have, then don't bother.

This game uses 3 cores only. Get a faster CPU, if you want, but don't get a CPU with more cores or virtual cores or **** like that.

Personally, I'd get a 5770, if your monitor is around 1280x720 and a 5850 if it's around 1920x1080. Or whatever the new AMD 6 series has to those.
