Please help a nub with MOD's

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 12:05 pm

So finally after years and 700hrs of FO3 and 500 of FNV on XBOX. I can afford a PC to play. Im 40 and not so good with tech stuff. Ive been trying to get mod's to work for the last 3 days. I am running windows 7 and have the steam version of FO3 GOTY. Steam saved my game in the program files folder and I saved FOMM and my mod's in Documents/games.

I downloaded the FOMM and then downloaded Fellout, Underground hideout, weapon mod's kits and FOOK 2. It seemed like all I really needed. I used WIN ZIP to "extract all to here" into the Documents/games folders where my zip files were. I opened up FOMM and hit a few buttons and my mod showed up I selected it and hit activate, they all seemed to activate fine. I then started up FO3 and when I hit new game it started and then crashed to desktop after a few seconds. I checked the game by uninstalling mod's and it worked fine with no mods.

I have been drooling over mod's for years, now I have a rig and cant figure out how to use them. I read somwhere that they have to be in a certain order in FOMM to work? Also I read you need some companion dload to FOMM so you dont have to edit any registrys. Cant remember where I saw that.

If anyone would be so kind as to give me a step by step walkthru of how to make it work, I would be forever greatful. To be hones, al I really want is the hideout and some silenced weapons mod's if anyone can help with that.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

First, make sure that you use the latest version of http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193, it will sort the load order.

Mods don't go into your My Documents folder, they go into whatever folder you've installed Fallout 3 to under the Data folder. Here's a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/972878-fallout-3-mods-faq/ on how to install and activate mods.

This should get you going: http://youtu.be/n_ix-dOGfXs (Part 1 of 4)

You obviously don't have to install all the mods shown, but it's well worth watching all 4 parts to get a handle on things.
