My idiotic drunk room mate was [censored] around on my computer and deleted all my Morrowind files thinking he was funny  , I cannot reinstall nor uninstall the program for some reason now. any suggestions?

svcks because I lost a character with over 90 hours of progress :sadvaultboy:

Also uninstalled WoW, that crap takes hours to download install and patch...not very happy with him at all.

I messed this up twice, making it impossible to uninstall and reinstall. I think what I did was reverting back to the most recent restore point on my computer.

After you restore, I heartily recommend enabling password protection on your windows login (including after screensaver).

Have you tried the disc after you restored? Maybe you can select uninstall or install from there now. I think what I did was I restored my computer, inserted the disc and all of a sudden it all worked

Good luck

You might also want to consider getting a new roommate.

registry clean with c cleaner, it should delete unused registry keys, then allow you to re-install. And for the roommate, get a taser (lol, just kidn)

You need a new roommate patch, preferably "My Computer = [censored] Off v1.0.7".

If all else fails, fdisk the house partition and install a new roommate.

It wouldn't be an eye for an eye. More like, a couple legs and some teeth for an eye....

One more thing, if I may add:

5. Keep back ups. Preferably on a USB memory locked away where no one can find it

Maybe if his friend was blind he couldn't delete his Morrowind folder anymore.

Well there are programs out there, that when something is deleted, you can still find the files on the computer. I forget what it is called. So hopefully someone will tell you.

What I have is EASEUS Data Recovery Free Edtion. It works for a few tries, so try something like that and see if you can get your files back or at least your saved game back.

I also had this problem and doing a windows restore helped for me once, but not when it happened again. If all else fails, do a complete restore from manufacturing specs and reinstall that way.

Good Luck and make sure you have a password on your computer and as someone said, make sure you have it as well when screen saver comes on as well.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but Ive made mistakes before where I deleted a game then restored my computer to an earlier point for whatever reason, the game was still installed but the files were said to be 'missing' when I tried to delete it again. My way of fixing it was to undo the last restore.
